How Remote Sensing Works

-When using Remote Sensing, electronic devices such as sensors are placed on aircraft or satellites orbiting the earth.
-Many satellites orbit the earth at an altitude of around 800km.Each satellite has sensors that are scanning the earths surface and seas.
-The data that is collected through these satellites is directly sent to receiving stations.
-The information collected with the satellites is usually available within minutes at the receiving station after it is recorded.
