Ed is a rather odd child who was abandoned by her father at her daycare center when she was very young. She has wandered Earth alone from orphanages to abandoned houses as she played with the computer that she either built or was given by an unknown person. Like a cat, Ed always lands on her feet and seems to go where ever she wishes. At some point she developed a fan's obsession with the crew of the Bebop, and followed thier misadventures across the Sol system, until they came to Earth looking for a hacker. After Faye promised she could join the crew and attempted to back out, she hijacked the ship's computer, then made herself at home. Ed spouts strange little rhymes as she does mundane tasks with a childlike abandon. Mostly she stays aboard the old fishing troller searching for bounty heads and playing with Ein. She has a unique relationship with each of the members of the crew. With Jet, she seems to share a father/daughter style relationship, unlike Spike whom she seems to regard as an older brother that she looks up to. Faye and Ed seem to share a sisterly bond, probably due to the fact that Faye is the only other female on board the ship. On Faye's suggestion that Ed "finds where she belongs", Ed eventually tricks the crew into hunting down her father. When she is once again abandoned by her father, who can't even remember if she is a boy or a girl and addresses her as Francios, she sets off into the sunset with Ein on her heels. Jet and Spike seem to be more effected by this sad turn of events than even they would have probably suspected, as a silent and lonely dinner followed her leaving. With a bit of hope and luck, Edward would one day wander back into the lives of the people she really belongs with. |
