GARDEN SONGS & POEMS
A Little Seed
(Sing to the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot")Here's a little seed in the dark, dark ground.
(Cup hands as if holding a seed)
Out comes the warm sun, yellow and round.
(raise arms over head in a big circle)
Down comes the rain, wet and slow.
(raise hands in front and wiggle fingers down)
Up comes the little seed, grow, grow, grow!
(squat on floor and slowly grow up)
Wake Up Flowers ![]()
Five little flowers standing in the sun.
(hold up five fingers)
See their heads nodding, bowing one by one?
(bend fingers slightly down)
Down, down, down comes the gentle rain.
(raise hands in front and wiggle fingers down)
And five little flowers lift their heads up again!
(hold fingers up again)
Planting ![]()
I took a little seed one day
I put it in a pot of dirt
in hopes that it would grow.
I poured a little water
To make the soil just right.
I set the pot upon the sill
Where the sun would give it light.
I checked the pot most every day
And turned it once or twice.
With a little care and water
I helped it grow so nice.
Seeds ![]()
Some little seeds have parachutes
To carry them around
(cup hand downward)
The wind blows them swish, swish, swish
(flip fingers outward from parachute)
Then gently lays them on the ground.
(let hand gently float down and rest on lap)
Mr. Carrot ![]()
Nice Mr. Carrot
Makes curly hair.
(hand on head)
His head grows underneath the ground,
(bob head)
His feet up in the air.
(raise feet)
And early in the morning
I find him in his bed
(close eyes, lay head on hands)
And give his feet a great big pull
(stretch legs out)
And out comes his head.
Growing Flowers ![]()
A muddy hump,
(make a fist using both hands)
A small green lump,
(poke up thumbs together as one)
Two leaves and then two leaves again
(raise forefinger of each hand from fist, then middle fingers)
And shooting up, a stem and cup.
(put elbows, forearms, and hands together, fingers curved)
One last shower,
(raise hands in front and wiggle fingers down)
Then a flower.
(elbows, forearms together with hands wide apart, palms up)
