The Journey to the South is a comprehensive tale of heroism, told through the eyes of twelve individuals with a common love - The World of Tolkien. This great journey began on the message board of There And Back Again, winner of the 2002/2003 Golden Web Award and the Tolkienet 'One Site to Rule Them All' Award. The originator of this magnificent story plot is LynxCrowfoot, an avid Tolkien fan and member of the TABA board. There, in the gaming section of the board, Ms. Crowfoot devised a simple story plot:
A Ranger is charged with an urgent quest to form a company of brave souls to complete a secret mission set upon her by King Elessar.
The scene opens with our Ranger Lynx standing in front of the Orc's Fist Pub awaiting the arrival of her soon to be companions. One by one, members of the TABA board join in on this quest. They do not know the specifics of the mission, but they know that if such secrecy is needed, this journey must be of great importance.
And so, with much imagination and drive, the unique personality of each character was formed. The final product consisted of two rangers, two hobbits, one dwarf, four elves, one Istari, one Rider of Rohan, and one mysterious character of unknown origins. Together, these characters created a masterpiece beyond all masterpieces. They created The Journey to the South.
