One of my dreams has always been to teach continuing education. All of my personal experiences with continuing education have been excellent (including at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute and the University of Phoenix). There is something about a group of people, a group of learners, that have elected to improve themselves through furthering their education. They make eager learners, particularly when the subject at hand is adult education, or anything related to learning, for that matter. I have gotten so much out of the experience that I would like to "give back" by leading even one class per semester or per year, in an on-line environment or face-to-face.
In the shorter term, however, before my degree is complete, I will continue to apply what I learn with each course to my day-to-day work. I would like to design and develop more on-line training programs that utilize my company's Learning Management System. Almost a year ago I completed my first program that was launched there. It was well received, and is still used by all new employees that join the company. It is, however, somewhat rudimentary in the application of multimedia and the like (it is particularly lacking in opportunities for learners to interact with the program). There is so much potential to create incredible training programs. I would like to expand greatly on the extent to which I've used those resources that are available to me.
On a more personal note, my family will remain a priority. Our immediate future holds the promise of a new home (a condominium is simply not the right place to raise a child) and of time away from the daily grind (a trip to Manhattan is in the works for July).
