1) The whole purpose of speaking in tongues was to be able to tell other nations about the gospel. -- Mark 16:17; Acts 2:8-11
2) The ability to speak in tongues is nothing more than the ability to speak in a foreign language. -- Acts 2:6-8
3) No where in the Bible does it claim there exists an "ecstatic" or "angelic" language that we can speak.
4) Speaking in tongues is the least of all spiritual gifts. -- 1 Corinthians 12:10, 28; 14:1
5) Women are not permitted to speak in tongues. -- 1 Corinthians 14:34
6) It is possible to speak in false tongues. -- 1 Corinthians 14:29
7) Speaking in tongues is not proof of your salvation. Christ never spoke in tongues and neither did John the Baptist, also a lot of the Christian Corinthians did not speak in tongues. -- 1 Corinthians 12:8-12
(8) Back then it was extremely difficult for poor unlearned people to learn a different language, now it is possible for anyone to study and learn another language therefore we no longer have any need of the gifts of prophecy and tongues.
