Microscope rules and responsibilities

1. Always carry the microscope with two hands.
Hold the arm with one hand and support the base with the other hand. Carry the microscope in front of you at chest height.

2. Gently set the microscope down in the center of your (clean) work area.

3. Remove the dust cover and place the cover in the shelf of your desk.

4. Make sure the 4X (low power objective) is in position and raise the body tube by turning the coarse adjustment knob towards you. DO NOT turn the knob past the stopping point or you will strip the gears.

5. Clean the microscope with lens paper.
-First clean the ocular and then each of the objectives.
-Next clean the condenser lens and stage area; gently pull the clips to the side and wipe them off.
-Finally clean the top of the illuminator, and then discard the lens paper.
