Who's in Favor of Global Warming?
Why the emotional plea against Global Warming?
Could it be that it's just another politic forming?
They say they have our interest at heart.
Not so! It's their interest, that's behind the effort.
Envir'talist say cost of prevention; a trifle of a raise.
For the good; and anyhow, someone else pays.
Perhaps, but when that someone else is you,
Self interest emerges and that's what you pursue.
They say, the seashore's sands are slipping away.
Owners of coastal Condos view it with dismay.
New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and San Fran
Are slowly beneath the waves and sand*.
Perhaps Atlanta, St. Louis and Buffalo
Will have a nice sandy beach for show.
If it should happen, be not dismayed
T'wont happen in our lifetime to be displayed.
They say it's serious, how can we let this go on?
But wait; much time has passed in this eon.
And industrialization's influence's been minimal
It's mostly Nature's acts, if actually criminal.
Th' temperatures scientist 've been taking
Are warmer now and deserts making.
But Earth's much cooler** than before
And naturally higher temperatures are in store.
They say, increased exposure to the Sun
Will cause cancer and ruin your fun.
But staying in a cave is hardly a life.
We need to balance pleasure and strife.
Except for sight of ugly legs, buns and other parts
Exposed by those who insist on wearing shorts,
Cannot we agree that being warm is better
Than having to wear hats, coat and sweater.
Th' press has bought the environmentalist stand,
Writers and editors to a man (and woman).
For sure we need to protect our Planet
But is No Growth and Poverty the best plan for it?
