Galleria dell'Accademia
The first name that probably comes to mind when you think of this place is David. Indeed, many people come solely to see him, making the line for this Renaissance masterpiece up to an hour long at times. Fortunately, we had reservations, so the line didn't bother us.

The statue is breath-taking, the meticulous detail on every inch of the statue boggles my mind. Keep in mind that the block of marble that David was carved out of was originally set to be disposed before Michelangelo rescued it. Talk about hidden treasure. We spent time in this museum looking at
David, Rape of the Sabines, and other masterpieces. Click on each thumbnail to view a larger image. Note: the thumbnails are higher quality than the actual picture.
Two different views of the David. There would have been a third, but there was a camera malfunction.
