| This was the space where I rambled at length about my girlfriend. However, since then she and I have gone our seperate ways. Rather than totally reformatting my page, I'm going to be lazy and just reserve this spot for now. So who is that angel to the right? Well, currently the position is open, but being the most eligible bachelor in Richmond, the competition is pretty tense. The plus side of having a city of women chasing me though, is that with some patience, I should be able to find one that meets my admittedly high criteria. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Those of you who don't know me very well, might wonder why I'd take on such a huge responsibilty. Well, since I'm such a nice guy, and have another paragraph of space to fill, I'll explain it for you. I will admit that being the Holy Grail of a dating scene is quite a burden, but someone has to do it. Without at least one Grade-A guy in the dating pool, the women of the city would lose hope. Overall morale would drop rapidly, and within a few months it would be total anarchy. I just couldn't live with that on my conscience. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The job, the women, the brilliant humor and dashing good looks... what more could any man ask for? Well, like anyone else, I need to get to and from work, so a new car was pretty high on my list of things to get once I had the money. The fact that my old car overheated IN JANUARY also lent a certain urgency to the situation to be sure. While I started with every intention of getting a practical, slightly used car, as I scanned the ads and started my hunt, I found that I kept looking at nicer and faster cars. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Years of breakdowns and a little touch of vanity had me switching from practical to practically the Batmobile. In May of 99 I found it, a black '98 Mustang GT. Black leather interior, all the options, and only a 1000 miles on it. Eureka! Other than insurance, and watching for cops, my car troubles seem to be over. Its fast, not too bad on gas, and looks GREAT. Finally a car I dont have to be ashamed of, or worry about leaving me on the side of the road. Looking smooth as hell and blowing past people in my way are just bonuses. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| What good is the car though, if you can't brag about it to all your friends. Fortunately I've got a terrific bunch of friends. Some have been with me since grade school, others picked up in college, and still more that have been met along the way. For whatever reason, they've put up with my grumbling, laughed at my jokes, and been there when I needed them. | It wouldn't be a homepage if I didn't use some of this space to ramble on about my interests and things that I like. I've got some fairly eclectic tastes in music. Beethoven, Metallica and Counting Crows all find a regular home in my CD player. I also like the group Live, but after those few, I tend to pick songs more than artists. Luckily for me, the enormous amount of MP3's on the net, and my friends large CD collections mean that I almost never have to go buy a CD just for one good song on it. From time to time I get in an 80's mood, and listen to the Police or Billy Joel, and there is an excellent Virginia musician Bruce Hornsby who has some decent music as well. Similarly, I have a pretty wide variety of movies that I would consider favorites. While the Star Wars movies reign undisputed at the top, it gets kind of fuzzy after that, and attempting any kind of list would be futile. Most of them tend to cross categories, being able to combine serious themes with action or comedy so that it doesnt get boring. If you really care, check out this attempt at a list. Over the years I've also read a great many books that have stuck with me, usually to be re-read over and over again. Serious stuff that deals with the nature of man always keeps my interest, 1984, Lord of the Flies, and The Grand Inquisitor are all in that vein. Other philosophy related stuff is also pretty interesting. Socrates, Descartes, and Hobbes all make excellent arguements, and for those of a philosophic bent are highly enjoyable. On a side note, Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side are my favorite comic strips. Its a real shame that both authors have retired. Continuing with that lighter theme, I also enjoy a good fantasy story. Something about dragons and wizards appeals to my imagination. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings series is fantastic, for anyone who likes those books I'd also recommend the Drizzt novels by R.A. Salvatore, and the Dragonlance Chronicles. Fresh fish, sweet tea, and anything with strawberries top my list of favorite foods. The list is so big though, it would probably be easier to come up with the handful of foods I dont like: Brussel sprouts, Hominy, and Barbeque Chicken. Outside of those nasty guys, I dont know if there is anything else that won't disappear when I'm around. I like to try new foods, especially from other cultures. Chinese is a particular weakness of mine, but by no means the only one. Well, wouldn't you know I've rambled all the way to the bottom of this page. If you aren't completely sick of me yet, please jump right ahead to page 3, where I'll finish up with some of my activities, news, and maybe a few of my trademark rants. |
