| Q: What kinds of reading problems can JS Reading Services help? A: We can work with children who understand what they read, but have trouble doing the reading. We can also help children who read well, but have difficulty understanding what they read. We can also give your child strategies to help with studying. |

| Q: My child can read, but lacks motivation to apply their skills. What can you do for them? A: Unfortunately, this is not an area we can help your child with. However, if a lack of motivation is caused by poor reading skills we can help. Children often avoid frustrating tasks. By making reading less frustrating (improving skills) we can make reading less of a negative activity. |

| Q: What enables a graduate student to complete accurate testing of my child's reading abilities? A: The graduate student who completes the testing for your child has taken courses about reading development and accurate ways to test children's abilities. They will be using the same types of tests that are used by school districts. |

| Q: How long is a session? A: Each session is one hour. |

| Q: How many sessions will my child need each week? A: You may choose to have one, two or three sessions each week. |

| Q: How long will it take for my child to meet their goals? A: There is no way to determine an answer to this question. It depends on the needs of your child and how they respond during remediation sessions. |

| Q: When is payment due? A: Payment is due at the time of each session. You may choose to pay in advance, but it is not required. |

| Q: Is there a fee for the inital meeting? A: The standard session fee of $20 will apply to this session. If this meeting goes longer than one hour you will not be charged for more time. |

| Q: What do I need to do if I have to cancel a session? A: We ask that you give your tutor 24 hour notice for all cancellations. Any cancellations given less than one hour notice will still be charged a session fee, as will sessions where no notice is given and you do not show up. Rescheduling is up to the discretion of your tutor. If there are extreme circumstances that prevent you from attending your tutor may waive your fee. |

| Q: Do I have to sign a contract for a specific length of time? A: No you do not. JS Reading Services does not believe this is the way to sell our services. Each child's needs are different and require a different number of sessions. If you are unsatisfied with your child's improvement or our services you stop sessions at any time. We do ask you to sign a contract stating you have read and understand our policies, including the handling of payments. |

| Q: What is a Reading Improvement Plan? A: A Reading Improvement Plan or a RIP is written upon completion of all testing and interviewing. It gives an overview of your child's abilities. The RIP lists each test that was administered to your child, the results of those tests and what those results mean. Next, the RIP lists your child's strengths and weaknesses in the area of reading. The last part of a RIP is the most important. It states the specific goals for your child and what steps we plan to use in order to achieve these goals. |

| Q: What is a RIP meeting? A: During this meeting your child's Reading Improvement Plan is fully explaned. You will receive a copy of the RIP and questions are encouraged! If remediation sessions are going to be carried out by someone other than the person who completed the testing, they will be present at this meeting. If this session goes over the one hour time frame you will not be charged extra. At JS Reading Services we feel that communication about your child is important and we want to answer all of your questions. |
