Documentation and Development

The intent and purpose behind this website is to bring a small locally owned business an idea of what they could make and host for very little money yet still achieve having an online presence and the start of building a online brand.

The steps taken to ensure all my objectives were met was to simply follow the guidelines set forth in the rubric given and then work off the milestones i had submitted through the course. I started by creating an outline of the hub and spoke style design I was going to go with. I then decided what pages I would create off of the main page. I then did a ton of independent research for different techniques and things I could do to create the site, and then started coding.

Defense of the Final Project

My design choices were made with the word simple in mind for both the user and for myself to mainttain. I did not want to enter into a project completely over my head... (I have never made a website before). I wanted to make sure all the boxes were checked as far as the rubric goes and then do a little design on top of that.

All pages have the link to go "home" or to any other page on the site at the top of the page.

The "Menu" page is simply two images grabbed from the menu of the real life Lunchbox which does actually exist. I did make sure to include a link though to the menu as a .pdf as well.

For the "Daily Specials" page I decided this would be a great place to implement a table. I again just wanted everything to work and be functional first and foremost. Once that was accomplished I did a little styling using the colors from the real restaurant as my inspiration.

For the "Media" page I decided this could be a place with some weekly or monthly recipe or social media videos that might be interesting to customer's so I added some youtube.com videos here, inspired by the holidays of course.

The "Contact" page is a simple contact form that is fully functional, although I just have the submit button bringing you to a page that thanks you for your submission. Everything sizes properly and I made sure to build one box as a multiple choice "list" type input box.

All these pages are very easy to navigate, work on any browser, resize perfectly and work as intended.

Opportunities for Improvement and Growth

There are many things what would be great for this site in the future, not the least of which would include more sophisticated design tactics and abilities being displayed. There is also major room for more social media incorporated into the site. If I had mroe time or resources to work on this I would love to be able to learn some flash techniques and get it involved here. I also would like to add more effects and text variations that are subtle but impactful and deliberate in the future to just make the whole experience as enriching and eye pleasing as possible.

Some pages that I believe should be added in the future would be a social media page where people can view the restaurant posts, or watch a facebook live broadcast of the chef cooking. I also think a gallery page with pictures of the restaurant and food would be a good idea.
