Leppy the Leprechaun with Leprosy
By: Jason Sinkhorn
Back in my homeland of Ireland there is a tale of Leppy the leprechaun with leprosy. You see, even though Leppy had a very serious condition, he still brought happiness to many people. Leppy was skipping along one day when all of a sudden his foot fell off. He laughed and said
"Begora! Me foot fell off! Oh well."
He went about hopping his merry way to the nearest foot reattachment clinic. Doctor Mannus took a roll of green duct tape out of his med. kit because it matched Leppy's green pants. He put the duct tape around the pant leg of Leppy's pants and the other side of the tape was attached to his foot. I guess the doctor didn't think that leprechauns change clothes.
"There ye go, Leppy. Ye are good as new."
"Why thank ye doctor. Since you helped me, I'll grant ye one wish."
"I want to be the best foot reattachment doctor in all of Ireland."
This was easy for Leppy to grant since Doc Mannus was the only F.R.Dr. in Ireland. So Leppy went off on his merry little way. After awhile he felt tired. He ran into a house that was inhabited by a small family. They were only 6 foot altogether on each other's shoulders. So he went up to them and said,
"If ye give me lodgings for the cold night I shall grant all 17 of you one wish each."
"Agreed" said the head of the family who was in a jar.
"Thank ye."
Leppy was always polite and kind to people. So the next morning after a delicious breakfast of robin egg omelets and silver dollar pancakes, Leppy told them to make their wishes.
The head of the family said, "I wish I had a body so I wouldn't have to live in this jar."
"Fair enough." Leppy said as he granted the wish, and the head of the family became a full bodied person.
The rest of the family made their wishes as well. One wished for a pet banshee. Another wished for a train liner. After granting so many wishes, Leppy's magical hands were tired. So they fell off.
"How am I going to grant wishes without my magical wish granting hands? Maybe I can use these pointy stumps to grant wishes." Leppy thought optimistically.
Unfortunately, Leppy couldn't grant wishes with his leprosy ridden stumps. He didn't know what to do. He thought maybe if he needed help he'd have to give up the secret to the pot o' gold at the "end of the rainbow." He hated to do this because all the other leprechauns enjoyed watching all the normal humans running like mad to find the end of a rainbow. This is what most leprechauns did for fun. Leppy tried not to be so mean. He did tell a few to
