Arianna stared at the doctor as he avoided her eyes by gazing down at the chart in his hand. “How long?”
Dr. Hashfield glanced at the nurse who was standing timidly in the corner before focusing his gaze on Arianna, looking small and fragile in the massive hospital bed. “How long until what, Miss Jensen? Until you die or until you can go back to Orlando?”
Dropping back onto the pillow Arianna folded her arms over her chest. “You didn’t say I might die.“ Her gaze was steady and her voice calm, but her eyes were filled with terror at the prospect.
Nodding, Dr. Hashfield said, “And I don’t expect that you will. Of course, it’s something you will have to consider. There are no guarantees. But as for going back to Orlando I would say two months at the very least and most likely no later then eight months.”
“I’ll miss my own wedding.” Staring down at the shimmering diamond on her hand her vision blurred as hot tears filled her eyes.
Everyone looked up expectantly as the door opened suddenly. A pretty blonde stood hidden behind a massive bouqet of balloons. “Ari?” she called out, peeking around the balloons.
“ReeRee!” Arianna shrieked as she saw her baby sister.
Renee thrust the balloons at the nurse and then rushed to her sister. “How you doing, Ari?” Gently kissing her forehead, Renee sat on the bed scooting close to her sister.
“I’m alright,” Arianna replied using her palm to wipe away the still wet tears.
Wrapping her arms around her sisters shoulders Renee Stroked her hair. “I’ll be okay, hunny. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. It’ll all be okay, Ari. I know it will.”

“I mean it, Justin. You’re either here or you’re fired,” Natalie said, her voice deadly serious.
Justin swore under his breath and pressed his hand against his forehead as the beginnings of a migraine formed. “Com on, Natalie. I can’t leave her now.”
“Be there.” Natalie hung up, leaving no more room for rebuttal.
“FUCK!” yelled Justin as he threw his phone. He dropped down on the bed, his face buried in his hands. Sobs shook his body as he cried.
Alexis didn’t say a word as she let him cry. Softly, she rubbed his back just letting her mere presence provide him with some comfort. She just looked at him when he turned towards her, his face full of confusion and pain.
“I have to go back. I have to be in Orlando by 11 tomorrow night or I’ll lose my job,” he mumbled, his voice hoarse from the tears.
Using her thumb Alexis stroked beneath his eyes wiping away the tears. She gently brushed it across his lips, watching as his tongue flicked out tasting the salty wetness.
“I have to leave her when she needs me the most.”
Kneeling on the ground Alexis reached her hands underneath the hem of his shirt and pulled it up and over his head. He lifted his arms and allowed her to take it completely off. Her hands dragged down his chest, gently massaging his muscles. Kneading his shoulders she gently pushed him back until he was laying down. Climbing up beside him she straddled him, her hips pressed against his. Working his muscles with her hands she felt his tension slowly slip away and his breathing deepened. Leaning forward she left a trail of soft butterfly kisses across his chest, her long blonde hair tickling his skin. Using her tongue she drew soft circles around his nipples and then blew gently on them, watching goose bumps cover his chest. Sitting up straight she stared down at him as he lay there, staring up at her with clouded blue eyes. “I wanna make you happy, J.” she breathed huskily. “I want to make you forget the pain.” Raising up she slid her hands down to his waist and gently undid his pants, sliding them off along with his boxers. Her gaze locked on his as she scooted up to the bed and laid on her back. Her breath caught in her throat as he entered her.
