As you can plainly see....I do take my X offroad. These four Pictures are thanks to Geoff Varosky and were taken on November 11th during a NEXTerra outing in Hillsboro, NH
This page is devoted to offroading trips and runs that Rockaholic and I have been on. Here you will find where I've been, what the trails were like, and how much damage Rockaholic sustained. I'll also be posting pictures here as well, and replacing older photos as I get better/newer pics. I have to thank Geoff Varosky and Tom Guza for just about every photo here (it is kind of hard to drive and snap photos of myself).
November 17th, 2001. North Reading: I went with Matt Peckham and Rob to some trails located in North Reading, Massachusetts. This was a short trip, as we were heading up to Pillsbury State Park in NH that night to see the Leonid Meteor Shower. There are some nice rocky sections that require a bit of skill (and 31" tires or AAL's would be good too). There are a couple of off camber spots, and that's just the path to the really fun trails. These trails aren't really stockable (Rob and I had to use logs to get over a few obstacles, and we bottomed out on a few rocks adn our leafs dug into a couple of trees). I didn't have a camera with me, but if any pics from Matt surface, I'll post (links to) them. This trail really tested my mudflaps (and they passed 8^D) Damage Report: Scrapes to the hangers, gas tank skid plate and frame. One flat tire.
November 11th, 2001. Hillsboro NH - NEXTerra outing I went with John Gunterman (and family), Tom Guza and Stephanie, Geoff, Rob Horton, Norman Hall, and Shane Beard (our Jeep Guide). This was a good day-long trip. John's and my X were the only ones with stock tires, which is why we had the most difficulty with the conditions, was minimal. Norman and Shane provided help by spotting us, and others, over a few tricky sections. There are a lot of hilly rocky sections that we went through, and a nice water crossing as well (see picture below, thanks to Geoff). This trip was the first real test of my mudflaps, and they performed beautifully. The rocks were a bit slippery due to the rainfall that had passed through the area, and I had some "fun" slipping on a few rocks. Only one X got stuck due to a combination of mud, slick rocks, and stock tires. My photos located at http://photos.yahoo.com/jrobinsdu103 Damage report: Lots of scrapes and dings to the frame, skid plates, and hangers and leafs. I managed to get a bit of water into the horn (drained it, and it was fine) and I sheared the top off a oil skid plate screw. I put a couple scratches in my gas Tank skid, and oil skid. I also lost my Trailer Hitch receiver cap (which had a Green X painted on it) when I went through the water (D'oh). A few pinstripes on the paint-job
September 30th, 2001: Ossipee NH. I went with Norman and John to the "airstrip" in Ossipee to so some offroading. We spent most of the day here, and there are a lot of trails that we went down and explored. We attempted to get to the lake, but we never quite made it (turned around when we were on top of it twice). We had some water fun with a few drunken 'rednecks' who were drinking and having a good ole' time. There is a good mix of terrain, from sand to rocks to water and wooded paths. There were also some pin-stripe alleys that we attempted to avoid. Rockaholic got very dirty, and even went off camber here (3-wheeling). Damage report: I flooded a horn, got some pinstripes, and a couple of frame scratches. Also made an interesting liscence plate mod.
September 15th, 2001: Ossipee, NH This was a pre-Mount Washington gathering run. Matt, Norman, and I (along with Victoria) went in search of the "airstrip" to do some froading. The Airstrip is an abandoned airfield with some class VI roads around it (Class VI roads are roads that used to be maintained by the state, but which have been allowed to deteriorate and become fun to drive). We never found the Airstrip, but we found a few small trails that we went down. We may have not made it to the airstrip, but we had fun nonetheless. Damage report: A few pinstripes For more Offroad pictures, see some of my links or my Xterra photos

My most recent trip: January 6th, 2002. Ocala, Florida This was a ProjectX (Warmonger's X) test Outing with FLXX and Orlando Tacoma Club and Ocala Jeep Club that I joined in on. This turned into an All day trip for me, and was my first Florida wheeling experience. The other Xterras there were owned by Gordon "the Warmonger" White, and Bill (SilverRaider). Photos will hopefully be coming soon (I broke my camera before this trip). This run took me through a few different types of terrain, but mostly sand, clay, and mud (not so much mud though). Almost all the trails are completely stockable, and even doable by pre-runners (2 wheel drive vehicles). We started off at Lake Delancy, and I played follow the leader there. Then we went to Eureka, where I gave my rock sliders and transfer skid plate a test when I bottomed out on an incline, and my sliders saved me from a tree stump. We went down mud road which sucked up the trucks that went in after the Jeeps with the 38" Super Swampers had gone through. We even stopped by a mudhole at Mondex where the big-boys came to play (southerners with giant tires getting stuck in the mud). I hopped into a mudpit (well, waterhole with some mud) and had a little fun, but Rockaholic didn't come out as muddy as I had hoped. She did pick up a nice undercarriage garden though. 8^D Damage Report: Horn flooded and replaced, lots of Mud in the undercarriage and skidplates, scrapes to wheels, minor pinstriping..
