Melvin- A 90 pound weakling who works as a janitor at the Tromaville Health Club. After Julie and Bozo play a cruel joke on him, Melvin is chased to the second floor of the club by an army of hecklers. Unfortunately he doesn't have brakes and ends up smashing through a window and swimming in toxic sludge which then turns him into...

The Toxic Avenger- A hideously deformed monster of super-human size and strength! He seeks out and destroys all evil in Tromaville instinctively and eventually rids the town of all its criminals. He will be referred to as Toxie for the duration of the review (and his film series).

Bozo- Psychotic health club member who enjoys running down pedestrians (for points). Gee... it kind of reminds me of Death Race 2000. Anyways, Toxie gives him some driving lessons and takes Bozo for a ride over a cliff.

Slug and his Girlfriend- Two of Bozo's friends. Slug is choked to death and thrown out of a moving car. His girlfriend is placed on some "hot-rocks" in a sauna.

Julie- Bozo's girlfriend. She figured in greatly with the prank on Melvin. She's supposedly murdered off screen with a pair of scissors.

Cigar Face, Knuckles, and Nipples- Three gang members that Toxie maims. Cigar Face has his face and genitalia used as a punching bag by Toxie. Knuckles gets his nose smashed in and Nipples gets both his eyes poked out. Toxie delivers them both the coup de gras by smashing their heads together.

Mayor Peter Belgoody- The cause of Tromaville's crime wave. It makes you wonder why any town would elect such a fat slob as their mayor. Toxie punches a hole in his stomach to see if the "good" mayor "has any guts."

Sara- Toxie's blind girlfriend. She loves him despite the fact he's a hideous monster who goes around murdering criminals.

Finally I get to review the timeless Lloyd Kaufman (and Michael Hertz) film, "The Toxic Avenger." As the movie opens, we are treated to the everyday happenings at a health club. We also meet poor Melvin, the biggest loser you'll ever meet. Bozo and his girlfriend Julie are sick of "Melvin the Mop Boy," so they play a cruel joke on him. Julie tricks Melvin into coming to the pool and meeting her (if she had flashed her breasts at me, I'd probably fall for the same thing). Of course she also tricks him into wearing a pink, polka-dotted tutu! Hehe hehehehe. So Melvin goes to meet her and the pool area is dark. The lights come on and he discovers that he's been kissing a sheep. So everyone from the club is right there and they all point their fingers and laugh.
Melvin, in a panic, rushes up the second floor, where he's followed by everyone. He leaps out of a window and lands in a steel drum of toxic waste (a truck hauling toxic waste had conveniently parked in front of the Health Club). So Melvin runs off in a blaze of fire to his home. After taking a nice warm bath, he mutates into the Toxic Avenger! From this point on he brutally murders and maims all the "evil" people in Tromaville. First off, he takes out Cigar Face, Knuckles, and Nipples when they are about to kill an honest cop. Days later he battles three robbers who hold up a Mexican restaurant. Toxie beats them all into submission and then kills each one in a gruesome way. One is literally turned into an ice cream sundae/ milkshake, another is shoved in the pizza oven after having his arm ripped off, and the last one has his hands put into a deep fat frier!
As Toxie cleans the streets of Tromaville, the incumbent mayor, Peter Belgoody is getting a little nervous. He's been profiting greatly from the Tromavilian crime wave, but now business has been a little poor since Toxie came onto the scene. The Mayor sends his thugs to deal with Toxie, but each time they fail. Toxie also takes his revenge upon all the people that made him what he now is. One after another he knocks off Julie, Bozo, Slug, and Slug's girlfriend. Well one day Toxie kills a little midget woman (yeah I know, little and midget seem redundant but I'm trying to make a point here). The Mayor sees this as his only chance to rid himself of this nuisance. He then calls out the National Guard, and he attempts to hunt down and kill Toxie! Oh no! While this is all going on, Toxie now has a girlfriend Sara. She's the blind woman that he rescued from the Mexican restaurant hold-up.
Toxie tells her his identity and that he goes out and he "mashes" people everyday. So the two lovebirds go camping to "get away from it all." They are eventually discovered and surrounded by the N.J. National Guard. A group of kids, and Melvin's mother run up and halt the soldiers from firing. This causes everyone else to lower their weapons, except for that damn mayor. Toxie tells everyone to get out of the way. As Toxie slowly approaches, the Mayor shoots at him with a pistol. Seeing that it has no effect, he falls on his knees and grovels before Toxie. The Toxic Avenger shows no pity and punches a hole in the mayor's stomach, thus killing the fat bastard and completely wiping out crime in Tromaville. "So if you're in danger, look to the horizon and maybe... just maybe... he'll be there!"

Bozo: "He's stressing me Julie! He's stressing me!"

Knuckles: "If he don't take the dough, I'm gonna give him a blow!"

Toxie: "And you can tell all your scum friends that things are gonna change in this town. I'm not just another pretty face!"

Toxie: "Hohohoho. No ticky no washy!"

Toxie: "Let's see if you have any guts!" (Punches a hole in the mayor's stomach.)
