My Rating:

Laurie Strode- Jamie Lee Curtis! Young babysitter who's savagely attacked by Myers at the movie's climatic ending. She gives the seemingly unstoppable killer a run for his money though.

Sam Loomis- Donald Pleasance! Michael Myers' doctor. After Mike escapes from the mental institution, Sam immediately rushes to Haddonsfield to stop his murderous former patient.

Lynda and Bob- Two horny teens that pay the ultimate price after fornicating. Bob is impaled on a huge butcher knife and Lynda is strangled with a telephone cord.

Annie- Laurie's cynical friend who is strangled to death by Michael (she would've lived had she not been so stupid...read more below)!

Tommy Doyle and Lindsay Wallace- Two kids that Laurie is babysitting. Tommy got on my nerves to the point where I wanted to see him gutted by Michael! It seemed like every 5 minutes Tommy would start screaming about the damned "boogeyman!"

Sheriff Brackett- Annie's father and local law enforcer. Though dubious of the whole Michael Myers scenario, he stakes out "the old Myers' place" with Loomis.

Michael Myers- After escaping from Smith's Grove Warren County Sanitarium (it's a nice place to visit but you wouldn't wanna live there), Michael returns home fifteen years after murdering his sister Judith. He knocks off all the horny "teens" and nearly kills Laurie (he would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that meddling Loomis...). Despite being stabbed (in the neck, left eye, and chest) and shot (six times at point blank range), Michael survives and is still at large.

For those who have never seen this film...shame on you! This is the film that (supposedly) started the whole slasher movie fad (that unfortunately is still going strong). For those who've seen the movie, you need not read this review (although you should). As the movie opens, it's Halloween Night (1963) in Haddonsfield, Illinois. We are treated to a voyeuristic point of view as a very young Michael Myers quietly stalks his sister. From what we can tell, Mike's sister (Judith) is with her boyfriend, and faster than you can say fornication...the two teens run upstairs. Mike then sneaks through the back door into the kitchen, where he obtains an extremely large butcher knife. As he makes his way towards the staircase, we see Judith's boyfriend coming downstairs. The only assumption that can be made from this, is that Judy's boyfriend is what one would call, a "minute man."
Mike then goes upstairs and stabs his naked sister to death. As the murderous youth walks outside with the bloody knife, his father (?) stops him. Fast forward fifteen years, and Michael's in the "Smith's Grove Warren County Sanitarium" and is supposed to be moved to a different nut house (or mental institution for those who are politically correct). Michael escapes somehow and commandeers a station wagon (who taught him to drive?) and heads back to his hometown. By now we have officially met our heroine, Laurie Strode, and her slutty friends, Lynda and Annie. As the three walk home from high school (?), Michael pops up every now and then as he stalks Laurie. This continues on through the evening as the suspense builds. Later that night, both Annie and Laurie are stuck babysitting. Annie gets a call from her boyfriend Paul (John Carpenter provided Paul's voice) and decides to go pick him up.
Being the good friend that she is, Annie immediately drops Lindsay off at the Doyle residence, where Laurie is watching Tommy (still with me here?). Then the cynical wench goes to her car at the Wallace house, but wouldn't you know it, the car's locked. Annie goes inside to get the keys. Upon her return to the car, she opens the door and quickly hops in, and eventually notices the steamed up windshield. Personally, if I discovered that the car door was open when I returned with my keys....I'd be a bit worried (even more so if I saw that the windshield was fogged up)! Annie then dies for her stupidity as Michael chokes the life out of her with a piece of rope. Moments later, Lynda and Bob arrive in a truck full of empty beer cans. Realizing that no one's home, they race upstairs and well, you know... make babies. After a two minute bout of unprotected sex (hey this was back in 1978!) Bob goes downstairs to grab a couple beers.
He hears the sound of heavy breathing from the kitchen closet thinking that it's Annie. He opens the door and is immediately assaulted by Michael. After a brief (and very pathetic) struggle, Bob is pinned to the kitchen wall with a butcher knife. Michael then walks upstairs covered in a sheet with two holes cut in it (Michael is a master of disguise!). Lynda thinks it's Bob, and gets upset when he refuses to speak to her (or acknowledge her tiny bare breasts), so she decides to call Laurie. As she does so, Michael comes from behind and strangles Lynda with the phone cord. On the other end of the line, all Laurie hears is a series of moans, groans, gasps, and whimpers (thinking that Lynda called while having sex). When the noise stops, Laurie gets worried and walks across the street to investigate. She goes upstairs, discovers the bodies of her friends, and gets attacked by Michael. Laurie escapes and runs back to the Doyle's house, but of course the front door is locked. Luckily Tommy lets her in just as Michael reaches the front yard.
While all this is happening, Dr. Sam Loomis and Sheriff Brackett are still staking out the old Myers' place. The two of them then decide to start spreading out their search which proves to be a good idea. Almost immediately, Sam spots the stolen station wagon from the sanitarium. So Loomis and the Sheriff are closing in, but will they make it in time? Back at the Doyle house, Laurie makes Tommy run upstairs when she realizes that her pursuer snuck in through an open window. Michael attacks Laurie, only to end up with a darning needle in his neck! Laurie then goes upstairs and comforts the two children, telling them that the bad man is dead. Tommy blurts out, "...you can't kill the boogeyman" just as Michael reaches the top of the stairs. Laurie locks the kids in a room then locks herself in a closet. Moments later, Mike begins smashing through the closet doors only to be stabbed in his left eye with a coat hanger.
Michael drops the butcher knife as he covers his eye, giving Laurie enough time to grab it and stab Mike in the chest. Laurie then has the children run for help as she slumps to the floor. As the kids run screaming out the front door, Loomis sees them and heads inside. He arrives just as Michael begins strangling Laurie. As she struggles to free herself, she rips off Michael's mask and we get a quick glimpse of his face. Just as Michael puts his mask back on, Sam pumps his former patient with six bullets at close range. The bullets force Michael backwards through an open window, over a balcony, and to the lawn below. Loomis looks over at Laurie who's curled into a ball at this point. "Was that the boogeyman," she asks. Loomis then replies, "As a matter of fact, it was." So you think everything's fine now and that Mike Myers is dead? Well you're "dead" wrong. Loomis looks out at the front lawn only to see the impression of where Michael's body used to be. So where is Michael? What happens to Laurie? Why was Michael stalking and attempting to kill her? Can Michael Myers even be killed?! These questions and many others are answered in "Halloween II."

Mr. Brackett: "You know it's Halloween. I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare huh?
Laurie: "Yes sir."

Sam: "Hey... hey Lonnie. Get your ass away from there."

Bob: "I'll be right back. Don't get dressed!"

Laurie: "Was that the boogeyman?"
Sam: "As a matter of fact, it was."
