My Rating:

Joe and Sam- Two mariners who capture and exploit Gorgo. They're just a couple of guys trying to make a buck. Unfortunately they're responsible for the destruction of London and the deaths of thousands of people, because of their greed.

Sean- Little Irish kid that tags along with Joe and Sam. He constantly whines about releasing Gorgo back to the ocean. Turns out that his advice should've been taken.

McCartin- The Harbor-master on the island of Nara. He "employs" Joe and Sam to rid the island of the troublesome sea serpent. He's buried under rubble thanks to Momma Gorgo.

Professor Hendricks and Professor Flaherty- They come up with a the whole "monster you've captured is an infant" scenario. Being scientist they are indeed correct.

Dorkin- Owner of the famous Dorkin's Circus in London. He probably regrets ever joining Joe and Sam on their recent business venture.

Gorgo - Amphibious prehistoric monster captured by Joe and Sam. Turns out it's an infant, with a very unhappy mother. The infant's mother soon arrives in England and destroys every national monument in her path.

"Hell hath no fury, than a mother's scorn." That line best sums up this entire movie. As a trawler sails through the North Atlantic, it's disabled during a volcanic eruption. Since Sam and Joe are in charge, they go to nearby Nara Island to get help, only to find that the locals aren't very friendly. Over the course of the day, strange events occur, such as the disappearance of a diver, and the discovery of his partner, who suddenly dies of fright. It's soon discovered that a huge sea monster lives just off the shore of Nara Island. The beast comes ashore at night but is fought off by the islanders with torches and rifles. The morning after, McCartin, the island's harbor-master "hires" Joe and Sam to get rid of the monster.
In return for some gold coins, they do their job and take Gorgo back to England, against the wishes of Professors Hendricks and Flaherty. Upon arriving in England, Joe and Sam make a business deal with Dorkin (owner of Dorkin's Circus). The trio then start making a lot of money, and think everything will be all right. Meanwhile back at Nara Island, an even bigger sea monster surfaces and lays waste to everything in sight. The creature then makes it's way towards England in search of it's offspring. As soon as the British navy and army get wind of this oncoming threat, they try and destroy "Momma Gorgo." All naval assaults fail and the mammoth motherly monster makes it to the British mainland.
For the remainder of the film, the British military proves to be completely ineffective against the onslaught of the prehistoric parent. London Bridge is destroyed, followed by Big Ben, which is then followed by Picadilly Circus. The British Military erects high tension wires (with over 20,000,000 volts of electricity) around the young Gorgo, hoping that it's mother will fry to death. The plan fails, mother and child are reunited, and London has been utterly decimated. As I have said earlier, "Hell hath no fury, than a mother's scorn."

Sam: "He's dead."
Joe: "Dead! How?"
Sam: "You saw him come up. You ask me, he died of fright!"

Sean: "I came to let him go back to the sea where he belongs."
Sam: "Why?"
Sean: "Maybe to save your silly skins for ya!"
