Wharf Rocks
Mendocino Coast Lumber & Railroad
My HO layout will be based on the redwood logging lines of the the Mendocino Coast, primarily drawing inspiration from the operation at Caspar and at Greenwood (Elk). The next to final draft of the track plan was posted on January 2nd, 2001.

My personal connection to the area includes getting married at the The Harbor House Inn on October 23, 1999. The Harbor House was the residence of the Greenwood mill superintendent. Our wedding pictures include fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Wharf Rocks in the background.

The photo above is of the Wharf Rocks in Greenwood Cove taken after a late afternoon storm. It was taken from the Harbor House on Friday, October 20, 2000. The wharf ran down the bluff on the left, across the small rocks, and all the way across the large rock with the arch. The ships would tie up to the arch rock on the right and load lumber. Use the link to Greenwood/Elk History and Photos to see what it looked like.
