Bayani Fernando: Bayani o Kontrabida?

What makes Bayani Fernando different from any other Metro Manila Development Authority(MMDA) chairman before him? Here are some of Bayani Fernando's project na hinde naman nakatulong ngunit pinagkakitaan lang niya at ginamit bilang propaganda.

By doing this, Bayani Fernando wasted public funds which according to him are also very scarce. He also tolerated the Filipinos' lack of manners and disciple. He tolerated those who continuously and blatantly violate city ordinances.

While the rich enjoyed a traffic- free route inside these exclusive subdivisions and their frienships routes, Bayani Fernando was not able to do anything but issue press releases.

Tama, sagabal sila. Pero hinde lang sila ang sanhi. Bayani used them as propaganda to stand out. The vendors became sacrificial lambs in Bayani Fernando's dream to make the Philippines, Bayani's Bayan.

Basta ang alam ko, grabe pa rin ang TRAFFIC. visit Trapik.com and see what I mean.

To sum it all up, Bayani Fernando's projects in the MMDA were colorful band aid solutions that were instituted not to cure a worsening problem that needs surgery but to project Bayani Fernando as an innovative leader when in fact he is just another trapo wanting what they all want: fame, power, money and attention.

** Lahat ng ginastos niya sa mga projects niyang walang silbe at lalong-lalo na duon sa tv show niyang MMDA on the road ay ginamit niya para makapag-empleyo ng mga traffic enforcers na incoruiptible baka sakaling may naitulong pa siya. He could have instituted a four-times a month random no-nonsense enforcement of rules. Sentence all the offenders by public censure. And see how fear can disciple the Filipino arrogants.

ANGST WITH AN ALTERNATIVE ANGST WITH AN ALTERNATIVE ANGST WITH

TRAPO

This jargon is short for Traditional Politician. In Philippine parlance, a trapo connotes the most wicked and dirtiest politician. People we should never trust. People who want power (and money) more than anything else.

Leadership is not just personal performance but to be able to rally everybody behind you.You need public trust and confidence.

LIAR. Her declaration last year proved more detrimental than helpful, even if she had not changed her mind. By not reiterating that promise or breaking it earlier, she had created  more political instability. That was very bad for the Philippines. She is a lame President. Very indecisive. She has shown it time and again. She was always afraid to commit  a mistake. But by not acting decisively she created an equal or a more evil mistake. Damn her. What has she done?

And she wants more? Kunwari pa na divine intervention and voice of the people?  Tell that to the marines (read: Trillanes et all). She thinks the Filipinos are a fool to fall for her?

She only highlighted the lie her father popularized some decades ago. And now, history have to strike the same family twice. You are going down. Even lower than where you are now.

Gregorio "Ka Gringo" Honasan - Originally, Gringo would not have been listed here (because this would have been his last term and I don't think he had any where else to go but down). But after the Oakwood siege.... Kapal mo naman. You organized a coup so that you can promote your National Recovery Program and your candidacy for President(?). My goodness, and youre are denying it , yet you had supporters (civilian component) rallying towards Makati. And most everything is pointing to you. Watta coincidence??? If ever he is not the mastermind, at worst he is an opportunist who took advantage of a crisis to advance his candidacy for the presidency.

Raul Roco - Grand standing politician. Bakit sya nagresign sa DepEd when he is doing a good job at wala naman syang kasalanan? It would have been better if he stayed in DepEd....baka mas marami pa siyang magagawa at matulungan duon keysa kung Panggulo sya. All he wants is to be in power. You should not get any vote!!!

*** Raul Roco is NOT someone who can unite this country. Roco reminds me a lot about then Senator Gloria Macapagal. In fact, Macapagal was also very popular when she ran as Vice President. But her personality proves that she is not a good leader. The same qualities I see in Roco. They are condexcending and hypocrite leaders who will push this country to worst times, probably worst than Erap did.

&&&Roco-roco - On his website, Raul Roco is boasting about his letters to currect DepEd secretary and to current President...

Hey Mr. Roco(roco)... what right do you have to tell the current DepEd secretary what to do... Tapos ginawa mo pang open letter to the public... you are earning a lot of Trapo points...Wait 'til I have the time to write my full critique on you...

Angelo Reyes - (This portion was written before the Oakwood Incident)Tatakbo itong lokong ito sa 2004....nagsasayang ng pondo ng gobyerno e. (This portion was added as an additional proof after the Oakwood siege)And with the expose of Trillanes, Gambala, and the MAGDALO group and proved by his 10 million mansion at the Fort, maybe Angelo Reyes shoud run to prison.

Panfilo "Ping" Lacson - A man of few words. And what is this about your expose... file it in court and stop playing with the rumor-hungry media.

Hilario Davide - How can a biased judge sit at the highest position of Justice in the land. No wonder nobody believes in the justice system no more. He mishandled the very sensitive Erap Impeachment!!! He allowed testimonies and evidences which are not yet deemed as admissible to be seen by the public. He let himself be used. Pustahan tayo... tatakbo yan....nagpapapogi e...

Miguel Zubiri -

Manuel Villar - This guy knows every trick in the book. In fact, his slogan S. T. should stand for Super Trapo. I am afraid about this guy because he has a great sales team of his Camella reality team behind his campaign...baka manalo itong tokmol na ito.

Loren Legarda - So young and yet so power hungry. Since being elected to the senate in 1998, she has masterfully played with the media and took full advantage as though it was truly her domain. She is concious where the camera is and poses accordingly.

And now, she bolts Lakas. The party that gave her the opportunity to run. According to Legarda, she did it because of difference of opinion. My goodness, she is the Majority Floor Leader. (I  remember Senator Aquilino Pimentel resigned as Senate President when his call to open the Second envelope during the Impeachment trial has not heeded by a majority of the senators). If party differences was  truly the reason for her resignation, then she should have resigned long ago (remember Vice President Guingona was able to stand up for what he believed in, even if his views were against Gloria or the Lakas stand).  All those reaasons.... I bet she is running for Vice President.... To be continued....

The Ramon Sr. defended Erap during the Impeachment trial. Nangurakot lang e ( Remember the Mitsubishi Pajero he got from the Department of Public Works and Highway? Of course, ibinalik niya rin after mabuko.) Although that Agimat Sr. is finally retiring, its his son Bong who wants to inherit the coveted crown of "Babaero", err I mean "Senador". Bong Revilla's campaign slogan and platform for 2004 should be "BalimBONG 2004".

Anyway, it seems he will have no parties to run under since he is already with the majority and he cannot run with Bong Revilla under the same party unless we change the constitution or we change the meaning of RP from Republic of the Philippines to Revilla's Politics, or maybe he can conveniently switch revert to his old party.

Jose de Venecia - It seems this guy will still be in office when my two year old son begins to have a family of his own. In fact, in his desire to be the seated in the highest office in the land, Joe de Venecia will change the constitution to suit his interest. Kapal Mo!!!

Bayani Fernando - What makes Bayani Fernando different from any other MMDA chairman before him? Nagsayang pa ng pera duon sa kanyang tv show na MMDA on the road.

Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte - Very much like Lito Atienza who puts their name tags on the entire city of Quezon. SB should not stand for Sebisyong Bayan but it should connote "Simpleng Bandal". Plain and Simple  Vandalism, that's what Sonny Belmonte. Do your work, Mr. Mayor. Let the people feel what your doing don't publicize it by painting it on every corner to prove that you are doing something.

John Osmena - He is called Senator "Buy-out" because his political stand is soft and he can easily be bought. Remember how hard he defended Erap during the Impeahment trial only to transfer to the side of Gloria after the 2001 Senatorial elections. His reason: "Every politician is local" or something to that effect. In short, he needs and likes to kiss ass of whoever just to get his projects approved and in action. If this is his philosophy then maybe he should run for local posts such as barangay chairman, kagawad or even as tanod.

And now, this gentleman from Cebu is even more swiftly collecting his trapo points. When he  bought a basketball team in the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), I thought he hada different reason. But now it is shaping out that he is playing with the media.

He understood that his family name wont help him anymore as the people already know his name. He has cooked up some commercials and is now a member of a television show (a soup opera at that). Wow, do you  need a better example of a trapo? Here he is. We should not re-elect Mr. Buy out to the senate ever again

GUAPO

Good Unassuming and Admirable POliticians

The Individuals under this column should be hailed and, if possible, be elected to the top posts of the land.

They have proven to have the political will to lead the country. At the same time, they have shown that they have done their respective jobs in a very low profile manner and whoever they have to face. They just let their work speak for them.

Teofisto "Tito" Guingona - This Guy is one of the best!!! He has been standing his ground since the time of Marcos. He is one of the leading figures (he accused Erap remember?) in the impeachment of Erap Estrada. And even now, in the reign of Gloria., who appointed him as Vice President. He continues to speak his mind: defending the rights and independence of the Filipinos. He is a politician who truly stands for something and fights for it, no matterr what the political consequence be. I think he deserves to be the administration's Presidential Candidate for 2004, especially since he is the incumbent Vice-President and GMA is not running. Mabuhay ka !!!

** Vice President Guingona is not popular in surveys but it seems that he is the most acceptable Presidentiable  to the administration, the opposition and the civil society groups.

*** I feel that at the moment, only him and Senator Nene Pimentel are the only two people who can unite this divided Archeapelago. By the way, both of them are proud sons of Mindanao.

&&& Raul Roco is NOT someone who can unite this country. Roco reminds me a lot about then Senator Gloria Macapagal. In fact, Macapagal was also very popular when she ran as Vice President. But her personality proves that she is not a good leader. The same qualities I see in Roco. They are condescending leaders who will push this country to worst times, probably worst than Erap did.

Aquilino "Nene" Pimentel - He is also a true blue fighter since the Marcos years. A man of integrity who works hard yet always seems to keep a low profile. He doesn't care who he goes up against or its political implications, as long as he fights for the truth and interest of the Philippines. More politicians should be like this man....my idol!!!! He is more than qualified to be our President or Vice President.

Juan Flavier - Small but Incredible!!! Although he has been coming out in some commercials... well that's a tribute to his credibility (at least he is not letting the government spend for his campaign). What strikes me about the good senator is his principles. He has stood against the strongest political congregation in the Philippines in an issue they abhore, birth control. He is also very hard-working. Despite his so called health-problems, his attendance and performance in the senate is impeccable.

Rodolfo "Pong" Biazon - He has worked his way from being a soldier to being a senator in the simplest fashion. Very down to earth and low profile. He is with the opposition and yet he doesn't let party affiliations affect his integrity to work for the what is right for the country. Recently, he was one of the people who helped solve the Oakwood uprising yet he never bragged about anything. Kudos, sir!!!

Mga Tanong na Nakakaturete ...

Gamitan: The interdependence of showbiz, basketball and politics in the Philippine setting.

Why is the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) sinking?

Will Macapagal replace Aguinaldo?

Debunking the Roco Myth...

With the way politicians have been demolishing each other and portraying themselves(all politicians seem to have a ghost in their closet), maybe the MNLF, MILF,  NPA and even the Abu Sayaf and all other seperatist and radical movements do have a point...

Why Jueteng has remained even if Erap is gone?

Check out the TRAPOmeter and the GUAPO points... click here

Warning: There are some articles that might surprise you because they are comments about showbiz and.basketball and not about the wicked Philiipine political landscape. However, it has come to my attention that Filipino (Filipinos) and Filipina (Filipinas) who aspire to become politicians have discovered that studying law and becoming a liar (sick: lawyer) is not really the best way to become a politician. It has been proven that although being a lawyer trains you to be wicked, at ease with lying and very skimming, there has been a consencus that these are traits that you need when you have been elected. However, they have unearthed the sad fact that the cheapest and best way to be elected is to first become a basketball player, a showbiz personality or at least a media personality. Further studies revealed that you really don't have to have the lawyer skills in you. All you need to do is hire them.

So please bear with the showbiz and basketball items that I have included. We must tame Frankenstein or the Incredible Hulk before they grow into the monsters that they are.

GMA - TRAPO or GUAPO?

President Gloria Arroyo - Her decision not to run earns her a lot of GUAPO points. However because of her many blunders in the past, I am putting her on probation status. If in a case she decides to run and break her promise, you know where she's going to be classified.

*** Why is PGMA not popular ? --- read here

*** There are incomplete entries. These people are also under probation. Very slim difference, although they are leaning towards where they are listed. Watch out for updates.

Why the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is sinking?

The PBA website recently conducted an online survey why the Invitational tournament was a flop. There were around six choices that tried to explain why attendance has gone down and why it is continually going down. The winning option eventually was "all of the above". The choices didn't even include the fact that some of the marquee players like Asi Taulava, Jimwell Torion, Davon Harp, Zandro Jun Limpot and Noli Locsin, players  that were supposed to be ambassadors of  the league, are now involved with illegal drugs. Hopefully not addicted.

Let me tell you why the league that I vigorously followed during the 80's is going down the drain. This downward direction has been the trend for some time now but it had to take a commissioner like Noli Eala to accentuate the situation.

In his pitch for the office of the commissioner, Eala announced that he is going to market  the product (league) vigorously. And true enough. The PBA has become a league all about the money. No loyalty, no camaraderie, just show me the money. The PBA has become a league where foreign players who could not land roster spots abroad try to fake their Pinoy lineage to play where they can get the big bucks.!!! The PBA has become the tambayan of talented players like Marlou Aquino and Jun Limpot who are happy to appear in the games and get their millions but not to play their full potentials.

The players don't play for the love of the game anymore. They play for the money. Gone were the Floro days at Crispa. Did you see the way the Crispa-Toyota Reunion game was played---- Did you see how Atoy Co, Terry Saldana, Philip Cezar, Bogs Adornado, Chito Loyzaga, Tito Barela, and even the pa-istar Robert Jaworski played? --- even if they are old, they played with heart unlike the game and the current crop of players of today.

The PBA has also killed most of its partners, including long time partner Vintage and Viva (both companies are heavily debt-ridden nowadays). The PBA is planning to have their own TV coverage team. Maybe this is a good way so they can accelerate their demise.

They also decided to stop playing in the Philsports arena and the Araneta coliseum because of the Beam Toothpaste commercial which they are not earning anything from. The league also said that it is building its own Arena.

To all the remaining PBA fans, maybe you should stop supporting this league. We, the consumers of Shell, SMB, Ginebra, Talk and Text, Sta. Lucia, Fed Ex, Alaska, Purefoos, Coke, and Red Bull. We pay for the millions of pesos that these players are receiving.

Prices of commodities increase because of the multi-million salaries of the players and other celebrity endorsers of the product.

"Gamitan"

Walang ganyan sa States (meron din pala)

Bold stars are a dime a dozen these days. It is the easiest way to make a name for themselves, not to mention a few bucks on the side. And to make sure they do make a name, they use popular and catchy screen names.

One of the more popular ways is to use a politician's name (as if they were the second wife of that politician). Take for example Ana Maceda or Diana Zubiri. Now comes the rebel beauties: Glorietta Magdalo and Gringa Honasan and Trina Trillanes <Llanes yata>. My godness!!!

Anyway, politicians are only too happy to be associated with these stars. Come election time it would be handy. Not only the regular rosters of stars like Rica Peralejo, Diana Zubiri, Assunta da Rossi, Aleck Bovick, Georgina Palermo, Alicia Meyer, Angela Velez, Aubrey Miles, Kris Aquino, Angelika Jones and the Sex bomb dancers like Rochelle Pangilinan, Jopay, Ira, Joy Cancio and Izzy, etc... They would also be getting young stars like John Pratts, Heart Evangelist, Richard and Raymond Gutierez, Long Mejia, Bea Alonzo, Chynna Hortaleza, Karen delos Reyes, Ciara Sotto, Claudine Baretto and of course Jolo and Bryan Revilla.

Watch out for your favorite stars... Coming soon in your favorite campaign sorties. At ito ang hubad na katotohanan.

They Shabu?

In the 1998 elections, there were two factions: The PRO Erap and the ANTI ERAP. There were more anti-ERAP than pro-ERAP, however because everybody wanted to be the one to beat ERAP(or everybody wanted to be President) (especially Fidel Tabacco Ramos and Joe "Speaker (King) of Trapos" de Venecia) they went about it in their own individual manner. Everybody thought they can beat this Action star, who during his time battle and beat hundreds of goons simulteneously. Well, they eventually won (tnx to the help of Erap himself) power in 2001 when they put Gloria Arroyo and the Hulk in Malacanang through a well planned and well executed People Power Two in Edsa, but Joseph Ejercito Estrada wiped them all during the polls.

In 2004 it seems the scenario in 1998 will repeat itself. I can picture the events so vividly. It seems that the underdog opposition might just fool off another upset if the Administration (Gloria Arroyo, Raul "bait-baitan" Roco and whoever shinanigan who decides to run) decides to divide their votes among themselves, again.

Abangan ang susunod na kabanata....

Great Commentaries

There is this showbiz oriented talk show hosted by Butch "P're" Francisco, Rosanna "Pokpok on Air" Roces and Lolit "Datung Scam" Solis. I won't mention the title of the show, the  channel and the time slot so as not to promote it. However, if you have seen it or is patronizing it, you will notice that it keeps criticizing stars who are creating and fabricating issues as a publicity gimmick . Isn't it funny because the only reason why their show is still alive is because they feature these "useless" stories of these "Stars" who fabricate these stories... Talk about having the right to criticize...

Survey - vor show in the Philippine election jungle

Election surveys should be banned from being published in the media. First of all, it is very self-surving. Number two, it conditions the mind of the majority of undecided and unsuspecting voters. Surveys should serve their research purpose for those who commissioned the survey and not as a campaign tool to deceive the ballot-writing voters.

Calling on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Please study the matter carefully. Haven't you noticed that the number of survey companies are growing by the ballot? Companies like the Social Weather-weather Station, The Ibon, the Family Feud Survey, the Pulse Asia, etc...  And haven't you noticed how their results seem to be different depending on who pays to commission their respective survey.

To the media... please be responsible enough...

 Attention: Senators and Congressmen...

If the supreme court can impose strict guidelines and code of ethics for lawyers; and if church leaders have been faced (or forced) to sacrifice marital priviledges and sexual pleasures, then why can't congress pass a law that would define stricter standards and higher qualifications for a politician/ public servant and the corresponding penalties for violating such code of conduct.

Hey... don't be afraid to discriminate... public officials hold such a sensitive position, they are responsible  for a lot of lives and they hold such a great degree of power and influence. They need to be bound by high moral standards and atleast a decent IQ.

We've seen what a charismatic bobo and a super-intelligent villain can do? Let's not let  it happen again, okey? Or maybe you are just afraid to prosecute yourselves...

 More CoMELEC woes...

Hey Mr. Benjamin Abalos... If there is a law that allows  only a certain amount of money that a candidate can spend per voter, why can't they fix the maximum amount that a candidate can receive as campaign contributions? The more people who contribute to a candidate and the bigger the amount they contribute, the more indebted the winner and the supposed public servant becomes.

Are candidates making big money from political contributions? Think about this.... Gringo Honasan barely made it to the Senate in his last stint. He was lucky thirteen in 2001. Sumabit la'ang. What baffles me is his great desire to run for President. He knows he has no chance to go up against a Gloria Arroyo or a Raul Roco (maybe Ping Lacson or Fernandp Poe Jr. has a better chance). But why is he so insistant on his desire to run. Does political contributions his ultimate goal? Just asking...

CALLING ON GLORIA... Gloria Macapagal Arroyo...

Madam Gloria, the country is in disarray. Now more than ever, you should reiterate your promise that you want unity and you want to stop politicking.... now is the best time to reiterate your promise that you will not run as president for the 2004 Presidential elections. We don't want you anymore.

Is there a solution to the Traffic?

Of course there is a solution. Does Bayani Fernando know it? That is the question!

I don't know what Bayani Fernando is doing? Traffic is like our Laws and constitution. We don't need new laws every year, we just need to implement the existing laws correctly.

The same is true with traffic. Bayani Fernando is coming out with a new traffic scheme every month. None of them seem to work.  Why???? Because it only creates more confusion.

He should just implement all the existing traffic rules. Instead of spending all the MMDA's limited budget for all his new project and his propaganda tv show (MMDA on the Road), he should just hire additional traffic enforcers. As long as traffic conditions and traffic rules keep changing, the problem with traffic will never be resolved.

Filipinos have accepted traffic jams as a regular part of everyday hassles. At least the MMDA can make it easier by making trafic a little more predictable.

The ultimate answer to traffic congestion is to decentralize the Metropolis. The government should offer incentives to companies willing to relocate to nearby provinces. For now, let's keep it stable and predictable .

Estelito Mendoza...

Its been almost three years since the Erap Impeachment. It has also been three years since the name of Estelito Mendoza resurfaced after the Martial law regime was toppled by the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution.

Remember, it was in his office and with his knowledge when witness Clarissa Ocampo was convinced not to testify against Jose Belarde. To my knowledge, Estelito Mendoza has not been sanctioned by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines nor by the Supreme Court. Will he be disbarred? Was the Impeachment trial really all about Erap, the Presidency and Malacanang? was the Impeachment trial just another power struggle?

Sobra na, Tama na, Huwag na!!!

As much as I hate Gloria and as much as I want Teofisto Guingona to lead this country and as much as I think Mike Arroyo has amassed such properyies as Jose Pidal, it would not do any good for this country to unseat Gloria Arroyo at this point. Elections are just around the corner, it is best to just wait for it. We don't want to destabilize this destabilized country any further. Anyway, Guingona or anybody else could not do much in such a small amount of time.Let the people decide who will be the next Panggulo of this country.

"Ang paghalal ng pangulo ng Pilipinas ay hinde parang kaning isusubo na nagnapaso ay puedeng iluwa... kailangan na natin itong lunukin at hintayin natin hanggang sa tayo'y tawagin ng kalikasan at umupo sa trono at umebak!!!"

GUAPO POINTS and the TRAPOMETER

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Everybody can be beautiful, ugly, handsome or guapo in their own special ways. In the same manner, everybody can be called or accused a TRAPO (Traditional Politician), especially during times when election is just around the season and mud slinging is favorite past time. This is the reason why I have come up with a TRAPO - METER that will make it easy ( and reasonable and justifiable) to brand a person as a TRAPO. On the otherhand, this TRAPOMETER can also measure if a person or a candidate can be classified as a GUAPO or Good Unassuming and Admirable Politician who deserves to be entrusted with a public position.

1. Party Affiliation - A political party is an important factor in the life of a politician. This organization is an extension of the beliefs and principles of the individual. In addition, the party is also a sign of people who believe in the beliefs and principles of the individual. But more importantly, it signifies the politician's loyalty.

A. Has been a member of 1 political party throughout his career ..... + 3 pts.
B. Has been a member of 2 political parties ..... 0 pts
C. Has been a member of more than 2 parties or has put up his own party or has been switching back and forth between two parties as the need arises..... - 1

2. Praise and Worship - Religion, belief and faith are important ingredients that tell us the morality of a candidate and how they would act during certain situations during their office.
