An important and national problem that is affecting the United States and so my community are gangs. In actuality my neighborhood which is Back of the Yards is fullfill of gang bangers, more than a problem gangs are like something cool to do and impossible to avoid among teenagers.The local gang in here are Saints, and is sad to know that a high amount of teenagers are not considering that gagns won't do nothing but destroy their lives.In most of the cases a gang member ends up dead or in jail apart from their families. Eventually what this fact proofs is that teenagers are an easy target for gangs. Another interesting thing is that there is gangs of different ethnic groups in the whole area of Back of the Yards but Hispanics and Mexicans are the majority. What my community had done in order to control our problem is that the police department of this district has placed cameras in the streets that gang bangers usually hang around. Also when police officers come around they get out of their cars to check the neighborhood. Sometimes people protest walking trough several blocks against gang violence. In fact this is just the begining for a community with such a problem, there is a lot of work that remains to be done. |
