LOVEPARADE 2002

Loveparade 2002 in Berlin starts at 14:00hr on the 13th of July 2002 at the Strasse des 14. Juni in the Tiergarten/Siegessaule.

The motto of 2002 is "Access Peace"

Fabian Peters, the new chief of the Loveparade organization explains what this means: 'You have access to peace, you can show the world how important that is, by being part of the Loveparade'

Although envirementalists are opposed to the event taking place in the Tiergarten, Berlins largest park, the Senat decided in favour of the Loveparade.

The Loveparade has helped made Berlin in having a good reputation in both Germnay and the world, after the collapse of the Berlin Wall. But  the 1.000.000 visitors also bring a  financial boost of approx. 130 million euro to the local economy.

Interregional and international trains mostly arrive at Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten (Hardenbergplatz 11
10623 Berlin-Charlottenburg) in the citycentre-west.The station is a few minutes walk away from Kurf�rstendamm.

Weather During the summer the temperature in Berlin normally is 22-23 degrees Celsius, but it can often get hotter reaching 30-35 degrees.

Loveparade starts with 50 trucks moving slowly at 14:00 fromthe Ernst Reuter Platz in West-Berlin and from the other side at the Brandenburg Gate. The route is 4.2 km long (Strasse des 14.Juni) and the trucks meet eachother at the Victory Column (Siegessaule). At 18:00 all kind of d.j.'s will play at a large stage at that enormous square around the Siegessaule. Until 23:00 there will be on big party. When it gets dark all the lights on the trucks will flash. This looks like magic!

Parties After the Loveparade (and during the whole weekend) there are lots of bigger and smaller parties in Berlin. More info on who and where and when will come later...

Finding your way in Berlin It's crowded during the Loveparade so watch your stuff.. It's good to have a map to know where you are. Most young German people can speak some English, so ask anyone if you are lost or wanna know something.

IMPORTANT Have enough money with you. Take a bagpack for your food and drinks! If you are gonna do drugs, watch out for police and don't sell or buy anything from people you don't know. German police is NOT tolerant! Drink enough and be kind to other ravers! Don't disturb the wildlife in the Tiergarten. If you are in trouble there is First Aid everywhere. Just look for it!
