Aerostatic Balloon Rides
Ex-Hacienda de Apulco, Hidalgo.
In the municipality of Metepec, 30 Km north of Tulancingo, Hidalgo, is this beautiful 16th century Hacienda. This is where the Club Aerostático Nacional (National Aerostatic Club) operates. The custon is to arrive to the Hacieda late afternoon, where dinner is served and then you can take a walk around this colonial monument.
Early the next morning, after breakfast, we are taken to the take-off field. Starting with the process of inflating the balloons, to the sight of them all ready, is in itself quite an experience. The flight is done over beautiful landscapes of Hidalgo's Huasteca. The balloon moves wherever the wind takes it, which causes the ground crews all kinds of troubles to follow us across this canyon and forest ridden land. The experience of flying on an aerostatic ballon is something you have to live, since no description could ever do it justice.
Regular flights are made on weekends, and you can sometimes hire a special flight on weekdays.
