THE IMPORTANT STUFF IN PERSON IS NOT SO MUCH THEIR WORK BUT THE WISDOM THEY PARTICULARLY LIVE

Aside from a progress which we are not aware ourselves most of the time, there is another progress which we must undergo to fully actualize ourselves. This progressive change is done with conscious mind. As I have mentioned in the beginning, every individual has a unique way to contribute something for the world of human being. And therefore the meaning we find in life is not derived from the way we lived our own lives to the full, alone. It would rather be completed if we have done something for the upliftment of the condition of human life. In spontaneous dynamic activity, man progresses himself but immanently. Though it is already a form of human fulfillment, it still lacks the ‘transient’ element of progress done for other human persons.

People believe that the so-called contribution of an individual to the society is more on ‘what’ he had done for it. Take for example: Thomas Edison, an American inventor, is a great man in the eyes of so many people. Jose Rizal is the Philippines’ national hero because he died for the cause of freedom for all Filipinos. Many even esteem Ninoy Aquino’s heroic act; for through him, the Filipino people were united in toppling down the dictatorial government.

Many times, we are trapped in the glitters of greatness, and proceed no further but just to have a mere appreciation of it. We do not learn something from these great people, which we ought to be. And so, in the course of our life, we start from scratch. We trod all-over again through this difficult tunnel, which these men who had gone before us had found a better and convenient way to journey in life. We would never learn from them if our knowledge about them is mere externality and superficiality of actions. What makes them great is not solely for what they have and what they have done. For what they had shown is just a reflection of what was happening within them. And so if our knowledge about those famous personalities ends up by mere appreciation, we would never learn something from them, which is for life.

But how could we imitate other people before us, if in the first place, we do not know the driving force that materialized their wonderful deeds in history? In short, we neglect to see the wisdom and the philosophy that underlined their heroic lives . These great men and women are great not merely of their deeds but of the principles they lived during their lifetime. Unless we can form principles or generate wisdom of our own lives, we can in no way contribute opportunities for progress for other people following us.

Unfortunately, the tendency of man is to ask "what" not "why" = why did they do these things? The answer to the latter will boil down to the principles of life each man is holding to.

"All these men have done their homework." We, too, ought to do ours. More than just the number of experiences they got in their lifetime, they were sensitive to the events that happened in their life. And no matter how small or few they may be, they used their reflective power to thresh out what they could learn from these. Not for other things, but for life.

What actually happens to us is that we have the tendency to neglect reflection on what we personally experienced. If it would happen that we would only use this power to the full, how deeply we can be in touched with ourselves!

Most of our personal experiences are wasted away as a boy throwing his delicious food into the thrash can. Even if we have tried almost everything and learned all the skills possible, these do not automatically actualize our human existence yet. Even if we’ve toured around the world, known all the mechanics in games, learned almost all languages, attended exclusive and higher institutions of learning, encountered all the advances of science, yet we do not reflect on them, they could not still do us a holistic growth in our personhood. They would remain plainly skills for our own physical growth and nothing else. Thus, we forget the other important aspect of our growth to progress = that is our relationship with the other person around us. This is the conscious dynamic activity, that is working within us.
