Whenever IR has a problem decoding a learned signal, the first thing you should do is attempt to learn the signal again and download it again into IR. Some of the most common problems with learning are caused by the following:
· Weak batteries – If the batteries in your JP1 compatible remote are old, replace them.
· Releasing the learned button too soon – When learning a command, be sure to follow the instructions in the manual which instruct you to hold down the button on the OEM remote until the JP1 compatible remote indicates that the signal has been learned.
· Holding the learned button too long – In very limited situations, learning may work better if you simply press and release the button on the device’s original remote without waiting for an indication from the JP1 compatible remote.
· Misaligned Remotes – When learning from one remote to another, make sure your remotes a aligned as described in the user manual of the JP1 compatible remote.
· RF Signals – RF signals can not be learned. If the EOM remote uses RF signals (i.e. you don’t need to be in the same room to operate the device) instead of IR signals, you will not be able to learn them.
If you have reviewed the above and IR is still having problems decoding your learned signal, you may need a new version of the program that decodes learned signals.
· Go the ‘2. Tools’ directory in the Files section and download the latest version of the Decode IR DLL.
· Once you have downloaded and unzipped the file, move the DecodeIR.dll file into the same directory as the IR.exe program executable. If an older version of the file is already there, replace it with the newer version.
· Restart the IR program and re-download the learned signals from the remote. Go to the Learned Signals tab to see if IR is now able to decode your learned signals.
Is IR now able to decode the learned signals?
Yes, IR is now able to decode the
learned signals I downloaded from my JP1 compatible remote.
No, IR is still not able to decode the learned signals I downloaded from my JP1 compatible remote.
