Oh, my sister and I went to check Proletariat Bronze who featured at the new Golden Gate slam at Canvas Cafe (on Lincoln and 9th). I got six spoken word CD compilations (like Battle of the Bay 2000 and the Silicon Valley team CD) for winning first place prize out of three poets. Second place won an anime doll. Third place won a deck of cards from Tropicana. The judges got handbound journals from Italy.
And my sister got a picture. A guy sketched a drawing of her, chin resting on her hands, long lashes (like my friends Mica and Denise)... and a thinking bubble saying "quit it." I don't know what that means. But who gets pictures drawn of them while at poetry readings? Fun times...
