Joy's World

"I RULE!"

--Kevin Spacey, "American Beauty"

This is the world of Joy. Not all too exciting, but it's better than some people. Here's a little bit of information about me: I'm a college graduate (Buena Vista University--Storm Lake, Iowa). I thought that since it's been like 3 years since I've updated this page that it was time for a change. Wouldn't you agree? I mean, a lot has happened in the past 3 years! I've had another baby, for starters. Heh.

I will warn you now, my brain sometimes doesn't keep things straight, so you'll probably enjoy a jumbled mess. It's argued that I just know too much and my brain hasn't upgraded itself to keep up with the influx of information. I think it's because I'm getting old. You be the judge. Heh.

Thought for the year: Why in the hell do people write poems when they're having trouble organizing their thoughts? Hrm. I think it's because it's an easy outlet. Who knows. *shrugs*

For some reason, I've been reading a lot of romance novels lately. I can't really explain why. They're really a bad thing to read when you're a dreamer. Ah well. Here is the beginning of a list of quotes from some of the books I've read. So far, all I have there are quotes from the book Only Love by Elizabeth Lowell, but there will be more to follow one of these days.

Because I miss a lot of different people, I want to share a little thing my friend Mindy wrote back when we were sophomores in college. Now, I won't tell you who she wrote it for, I'll just share it. You should enjoy it.

Question? Do you ever feel like your mind is set on some person until that time you notice that your heart is pounding so hard that you can't even tell if you are alive or dead. And then you think soley of that person and get very happy and cheerful with an unresounding sense of joy. Then, just when you are at your peak like you have the world at your feet, that other person is nowhere to be found so you drop to a low. You feel like your heart is being stepped on and your mind begins to lull. Then, when you think all hope is lost, you get a little note from this person telling you that this person misses you too? Ever just feel that way? I miss you!

Now that I have that part out of the way, I invite you to kick back, relax, and enjoy some surfing while you're here. You might learn something...or get REALLY frightened off. There are quite a few places with pictures, for those who are curious to know that stuff, so enjoy and appreciate them! I have my own scanner now, rock on! And have a crapload of pictures trapped inside my computer, so maybe I'll just add some more newer pictures onto here. Then again, that might require I spend more time updating this. *laugh* But I do invite you to read what's currently on here, and just wait for the updates as they come along....

You may continue now.... There's a lot to see on here!

THIS JUST IN!
  • Try learning about ME! This is just a blurb about my personal philosophy of life and that kind of stuff. One day I'll get around to working on it and making some changes.
  • or perhaps you want to know about my FRIENDS! These are some strange people, but they're fun. This page contains a listing of URL's for those of my friends with homepages that I know of. Sure, some of them are wrong, and most likely outdated, but hey, we can't all be perfect!
  • or maybe my FAMILY? They're really interesting folks, but it still needs a LOT of work! One day I'll have the time to work on it more.
  • Check out my "baby" here!

  • How about my SCHOOL? "Hail thee oh Buena Vista...." I think that's how the song goes... Anyhow, this is a little ditty about the different schools I attended in the course of my life. And believe me, you should NOT mix public and private school educations. Heh. You just might end up like me!
  • More pictures!! This is where the brunt of my pictures are held. There are some interesting pictures on here...and some amusing little tidbits of information surrounding them for your amusement. I thought they were funny, anyhow. There's also an additional link at the bottom of the page that will take you to some other pictures, but I warn you now--you might be offended. Consider yourself warned. =)
  • Carrie has recently decided to try to sell some of her books online. She has a ton of them and I think she's planning on selling them at a pretty decent price. Anyhow, to check out some of the titles that she is including, go to her BOOK PAGE for more information. It's still a work in progress, so excuse the little mess. *smile*
  • I now have a section full of Family Photos if you're interested in seeing the people I put up with at family gatherings.

I thought I would take the time out to share with you some of my social work experiences while here at Buena Vista. *nods* This will also include some papers I've written, along with the actual experiences I've had. Oh! And as soon as I get it linked, some stuff about the great city of Chicago will be there. In the mean time, go to the Social Work Cafe and check out what they have to offer! It's a really good page!

pssst....look at this one, too. This is a link for Robert Schneider, Ph.D., or as I know him, Bob. Bob's a good guy. He taught me everything I know about research methods and the real way to write an APA style paper. Woo woo! He used to be a professor at Buena Vista, but decided(?) to leave and pursue teaching at the University of Northern Iowa. He's still a good guy, though, and I hope those new students he's teaching are learning something. =)

Whatever path you choose, be sure to go with the others.

Guess what? Any questions?

One day, this will all be organized. Of course, by then, computers probably would cease to exist. *laugh*
