The Life of a Joy

...as seen by me

[This is a extra link, if you haven't figured it out yet]

Now that I look at this picture again, I have to remember that I was 18 when this picture was taken. So not only do I look quite young, the angle is great because it makes me look thin. Heh.

Anyways, to tell you something schnazzy about myself... I graduated from Buena Vista University in 1999 with a degree in social work (which is an accredited program, so I'm a "real" social worker, as opposed to "social workers" that have degrees in human services).

Here's a little interesting tidbit: according to my astrological birth chart, I am a sex goddess. For some reason, that struck me as interesting and I felt the need to share. Oh, and I'm also very well suited to practice social work, according to the chart. I'm glad I know people who can do that kind of thing!

I'm seriously considering changing my political party affiliation. Sen. John McCain was the best candidate for President, you know. At least he was honest. *smile* I mean, if you're going to be a jerk, be a jerk. Sen. McCain didn't hide that fact, and frankly I was impressed. Personally, Al Gore scares me. Maybe I'm getting old. Who knows. It does scare me, however, that I actually ENJOY listening to Rush Limbaugh. You know, ever since he lost his hearing, he's better...or is it bitter? What's even more frightening than enjoying him is AGREEING with him. I never thought that'd happen in my lifetime! Heh. One can never tell anymore....

Don't let my personal views get the best of you! I do believe in certain things like same sex marriage. "Defense of marriage" is a crock. The argument that by allowing people of the same sex to marry brings a bad name to marriage is bullshit. DIVORCE brought a bad name to marriage. I really don't agree with Nebraska's law on same sex couples. I know, I know. It's not about fair, it's about what's right. Well, I don't think it's right. I'll never think it's right. Probably because it strikes close to home.

I also believe that abortion is the right of the woman, although the man is entitled to his rights as the father, and is an issue that needn't be left up to the state or federal government to decide on. (You know, that whole 'freedom of choice' thing...) It's a hard enough decision to make without "Pro-Life" Nazi's yelling about how you're a "murderer" or whatnot.

Now there's the whole deal with banning the use of fetal tissue (stem cells from abortions) in (Alzheimer's) research. Fact: Abortion rates have not increased because of this. Now, why is it a problem? What's the difference between donating fetal tissue to research and donating organs for research? It's hard enough to make the decision to have an abortion without someone harping over your shoulder telling you what you can and can't choose to do with the remains (for lack of a better term). As a woman and organ donor, I would prefer that the fetal tissue be used for research purposes should I decide to have an abortion at any point in my life.

As far as welfare is concerned...I would have to say that while everyone has the right to welfare, not everyone has the right to use welfare as their main support. GET A JOB PEOPLE! I mean, c'mon, if I have a college degree that cost me almost $80,000 and worked in a restaurant for a few years until I landed a good job, you can also find a job to give yourself something better to do than mooch off the government.

Well, since that tidbit of information is out, I encourage you to stick around! Be prepared to hear more about my views, as they are everchanging to keep up with some idiots in society.

I'll let ya in on a little bit about what kinds of things I like here. First of all, we've got MST3K (for those who don't know, that's Mystery Science Theatre 3000) which I think is one of the most enjoyable shows on television! I will forever have memories of sitting in the main lounge of Swope at BV and watching it on Saturday nights when it was on USA...or was it TBS....*ponders* I don't remember. All I remember was that it was good quality time spent with Carrie. Ahhh...those were the days. And to think, we were the only 2 who actually ENJOYED MST3K: The Movie. Guess the others just didn't know good television! *grin*
