The Story of Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't begin in this time period, or even in the last hundred years! The story actually begins in Ancient Egypt, centeries ago...
Ancient Magicians and Dark Priests used their dark powers to summon powerful monsters from another realm. But they quickly discovered that these monsters were to strong for them, and they could not control them! The monsters ran rampet throughout Egypt, and threatened to destroy the world! So, the people turned to the Pharoh for help. The Pharoh used some of his magic, and sealed the monsters into stone tablets, where they lay dormet for several years.
But, the Magicians and Priests would not give up! They spent those years searching for a way to control the monsters...and they succeeded! With the monsters now under their control, the people began to duel to gain power, playing what they called the Shadow Games.
When the Priests had gained emence power, they challenged the Pharoh in an all out revolt, and threatened to take over all of Egypt! In order to stop them, the Pharoh gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life, to seal himself in an ancient puzzle, and the monsters would be locked away forever.
But our story doesn't end there!
In this century, a small boy named Yugi is given the Millenium Puzzle by his Grandfather who used to be an archiologist in Egypt. When he solves the puzzle, the ancient spirit of the Pharoh dwells within him!
