o.home===================================UP AND RUNNING: After 5 years of inactivity, the WebPage is now up
September 9, 2008 Dr. Joshua Daryl V. Navarro August 14, 2008 THE AFTERMATH...                 "It was 12:00AM, gingerly holding the mouse, my eyes rapidly scan the monitor, the yellow background of the website aggravating my blurry vision... I was tired, hoping that the agony of waiting should have ended 2 nights ago... and then, holding my breath... there! I finally saw it... NAVARRO, JOSHUA DARYL VALENA, my name in bold letters, a feeling of chest-crushing pain suddenly runs throughout my body followed by a squeal due to a sudden experience of a stake being pulled out of my heart... Thank you Lord! I finally did it!!! I passed!!!..."                That was on August 12, 2008. I passed the 2008 Veterinarian Licensure Examination given by the board of Veterinary Medicine this August 2008. It took listening to classical music, eating peanuts, a lot of milk tea, long hours of meditation, emotional preparation and the most important thing of all... PRAYER.                 Clearly, the board examination was a different experience altogether. The questions were meant to confuse and disrupt concentration and eventually pummel one's confidence. It demanded a deep searching of thoughts and logic and a second nature of memory recall. It was one of the longest 3 days of my life and I must say, that it was all Divine Intervention. I'm so thankful to the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, Mother Mary and all the angels and saints for the strength, patience, courage and the divine assistance for the success of the board examination. Yes, I am I am, I am a religious man...                 The next step now is to register at the PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) for the oath taking which will be held at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel, Manila. Wow, a flood of emotions and memories still engulfs me evenstill. I just would like to thank the Divine for listening to my prayers, my family and my Mamanchkin for their support and love, to all my professors and my friends... Thank you so much!! Thank you so much for everything!!!... Dr. Joshua Daryl V. Navarro April 16, 2008 Sending out an S.O.S. to the World!!!                 Wow! I finally did it! I graduated in my degree Doctor of Veterinary Medicine last April 11, 2008! I must confess that I was excited at this occasion (although it would be technically my second degree) since it would be my first time in attending my graduation (I actually did not attend my graduation in Bachelor of Science in Biology),
but now comes the hard part. I'm currently preparing for my Veterinary Board Exam this coming August 2008, and it is a very stressful time for me... I'm praying hard everyday that may I be guided by the Lord in this endeavor. To anyone who is reading this I'm sending out an SOS and I ask to please pray for me that I may pass the exam. I would also like to give eternal thanks to the Lord for always giving me the many blessings to finally reach this goal and for living my life, to my family for all their love and support and to my Mamanchkin for giving me all the love, inspiration and strength in my life. To the Gangrene Gang! Karl, Tone and Mike! thank you very much for their friendship and making our clinical duties a blast!                I'm officially steroid free for one year!!! yup! it has been one year that I haven't touched that drug and I'm now trying to recover my body from the damages it has endured over the years since I have been taking steroids. I'm now playing Aikido again! yes!! finally after all these months! and it also serves as my exercise, relaxation and distraction from studying and my back has also improved largely! I don't feel that sharp pain that I did almost a year ago when moving, it really just took time to heal but now I'm happily back! I'm also in the process of training and condition my body in hope that I may reach my rank of Nidan (2nd degree blackbelt).                 I finally have a PlayStation 3 Game! although its only one but it's a blast to play. It's the Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End game, it's basically an adventure game but wow! you can really see the graphical capabilities of the PS3! I haven't really been playing much since I'm studying but I'm just lying in wait for the Metal Gear Solid 4 and Tekken 6 games! besides, the games are expensive!! Lucky for X-Box 360 owners since they can buy the pirated versions of the games (hehehee...). My sister have bought me the Virtual Memory Units for my DreamCast console! but unfortunately, the old VMU had a ton of saved game files that was corrupted and now I can't access them anymore... I have to play a LOT again in order to unlock those secret characters... good grief!                 Anyway, I guess I have to get back to studying, it seems really therapeutic in writing one's thoughts or blogging it out eventhough I'm not really sure if anyone is reading this... but anyway, have a good day! and may God always give us his guiding light... Joshua Daryl V. Navarro, B.S.b. January 2, 2008                 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! A new year has come and I have to say that this year will be the most challenging for me. The past year has been hectic although given my light schedule in school and finally this year will be hopefully the culmination of my school years in veterinary medicine since I will be graduating this 2008. I will also be hopefully taking my board exams this year which is also a big step for me. I am now on my internship on my final year, and it is actually my third venue in clinical rotation. I have been to Salikneta Farm in San Jose, Del Monte, Bulacan and St. Joseph Veterinary Clinic at Paranaque. I am now in Mt. Everest Veterinary Hospital in Fairview, Quezon City and my next venue will be Marikina.                 ![]() Ho-Ho-HO!!! I just got a Sony Playstation 3 for Christmas!!! It's a dream come true! I never thought I would get to own a PS3! Although I still don't own a game yet (they are all expensive!) I'm waiting on the Tekken 6, Resident Evil 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4 games!! I'm also trying to get my Sega Dreamcast fixed, the VMU or Virtual Memory Unit which is the counterpart of memory cards in the Sony gaming consoles was busted and I can't play most of the games since they would require some space to save. Luckily, the VMU's are cheap since the Sega Dreamcast have stopped production, my sister and brother-in-law got them for $5.00 a piece in the US.                 Although there are some PS3 games already out like Virtua Fighter 5, The Transformers Game etc. I'm itchy for my favorite titles. I'm also waiting on the StarCraft 2 game!! gimme the game!! when is it coming out??! I'm on official hiatus from the Philippine Heart Center Aikido Club. I can't seem to find time to visit the dojo since of my clinical duties. I guess I just have to take things one at a time, I still plan to return and start training for the Nidan exam. I'm playing the Manhunt 2 game on the PS2 and this game is plain crazy! it has so many ways on how to kill you're enemy. I'm quite surprised that it's a game on the PS2, I only saw adult-oriented games available on the PC. My Mamanchkin and I already watched the I am Legend flick by Will Smith on DVD, I must say that I'm a little disappointed at the ending of the movie, I would have thought it to have or ended with something more.                Anyway, I have a lot to do and not much time in doing it. I hope and pray that fates be willing and may good fortune smile upon and help me face the challenges of this year. Joshua Daryl V. Navarro, B.S.b.
November 11, 2007                 I finally finished my thesis defense last November 8, which takes a load of my mind, although there are still some revisions I have to do before I can make copies of it and bookbinding it, its pretty much finished. It came down to the final title "Prevalence Rate of Escherichia coli in the Gastrointestinal Tract of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from Three Lakes in San Pablo, Laguna." I can now concentrate on my review and clinical duties starting on November 19. Only one more thing to worry about is my rabies vaccination shots, the Animal Bite Center said that I need the Verorab rabies vaccine and it was unfortunate that they do not have it in stock when I called.                 My clinical duties are coming up! I have four venues in small animal practice and 2 venues for large animal practice. I also have a venue of choice for our group's last week for clinical duty. I just hope to enjoy all of the things to see and experience but I'll surely miss my Mamanchkin! It was unfortunate that I was not able to take up my clinical duties same as my Mamanchkin, but I guess that everything has a purpose, by the way, she is now a licensed veterinarian!! she passed the veterinary boards last August 1,2 and 3 this year. I hope that fate smiles upon me as well when my time for the board exam comes, but its still too early to think about that, my plan is to just take it one step at a time, and my current objective or goal is to finish my second degree which is just hopefully a semester away, I just pray and hope for the best. Joshua Daryl V. Navarro, B.S.b. October 5, 2007                 O wow! I just realized that I'm officially on my semestral break since yesterday! It's still a week before actual semestral break starts but I just finished my exams in my laboratory subjects which is always scheduled a week earlier.                 Anyway, yesterday was a real gut wrencher, I felt so stressed with those exams along with a project (a long one...) I have to submit and of course my thesis which my adviser decided to add something in the methodology in the last minute (have mercy!) which I'm supposed to have finished the performance by today! and I must say that I'm not really a grace under pressure. My thesis was renamed to "Prevalence of Escherichia coli Infection in the Gastrointestinal Tract of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from Three Lakes in San Pablo, Laguna" and I was hoping to finish it and have it defended before the break, but I guess lack of time got the best of me. I'm actually having my Clinics 111 and Clinics 112 (which are small animal practice and large animal practice respectively) duties by this coming November, so it would be interesting to see how I might be able to fit my thesis in all that. I had my performance pegged for three weeks to finish which I promptly did, but I guess my adviser had other ideas. Hopefully everything will come out fine in the end.                I'm playing my old PlayStation again (yup! the grey one!) which I found relaxing and a welcome distraction aside from my studies, I have to get my PlayStation 2 fixed since I can't play some of my newly acquired games and eversince I got my PS2 unit, I never really got into buying a lot of games compared to my old PS unit. I'm praying that someday that I will be able to get that infamous PlayStation 3!!! I can't seem to accept the fact that I missed one of the Tekken games!! I missed the Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection since it was only available on the PSP and arcades, I can't afford to miss the upcoming Tekken 6 on PS3! My collection of the Tekken series is as follows, Tekken 1, 2 and 3 on PS, Tekken Tag Team Tournament, Tekken 4 and Tekken 5 on PS2 (missed the Dark Resurrection game...). I'm currently playing Suikoden 2, only this time I want to complete all the stars of destiny but printing out the walkthrough (hehehe, can you blame me?) I see that I've already missed one character to recruit. I also played (again) my Dinocrisis, Dinocrisis 2, Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 games, unfortunately my PS console can't read the RE3 game :(                 Starcraft 2! where are you?! when is that damn game coming?! I'm always checking out for the release date but I just have to content myself with the updates of the official website (http://starcraft2.com), and yeah, "Hell, it's about time." Oh yeah! the Resident Evil Annihilation movie was so cool! I've never seen so many zombies in one film! there were more zombies than in the Dawn of the Dead remake and Land of the Dead (but still, nuthin beats that Dawn remake! Go Kenneth!) I love zombie flicks! all of em! I bought the 28 movies! 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, although it's not an actual zombie flick, I still love it!! I'm already excited on the upcoming Iron Man movie! oh yeah!                 Anyway, got to get back on my semestral break! :) I hope to type all my thoughts again for my own reading pleasure, anyway I'm the only one visiting my own website hah hah hah!!! and I'm itching to read all the new pocketbooks I got (I like skulking around book sales..) Joshua Daryl V. Navarro, B.S.b.                 Finally! after almost 5 years of inactivity I got around in building my WebSite. Since 2002, a whole lot of events has happened. First and foremost is having met the Love of my Life, yup! I have never felt so much happiness and love in my life. I guess it's true that some people say that true love is the "Sunshine of one's Life," I feel so much alive and complete when I am with my Love. My sister in the US has given birth to 2 beautiful twin boys, which means I'm already an uncle, I also had the chance to spend time with my sister and her hubby when they took their formal Philippine wedding and vacation here. My brother also plans to have his wedding next year (2007), and I have to prepare for my best man's speech. I am now studying at De La Salle Araneta University for a Degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I am currently in my 6th year, and hopefully I will graduate by the school year 2007-2008. I plan to take a residency course in Small Animal Surgery after hopefully passing the boards.                 Personally it has been a rough year because I had health problems throughout most of the semester. I missed my preliminary exams because I was diagnosed to have atrial fibrillation, a condition where my heartbeat is not in rhythm due to hyperthyroidism and I also missed my finals exam because I suffered a compression fracture of the 1st lumbar vertebrae due to an accident. Also last year, I missed the first 3 weeks of school of January because I had cholangitis a condition where there was stricture of my bile ducts due to inflammation causing the blockage in the passage of bile, I was icteric (jaundice) for almost 3 weeks (yellowish eyes and skin).                 I admit I had a lot of fun doing this website again, I reviewed my old books and files just to remember some of the stuff I have learned (I had nothing else to do anyway since I'm recovering from my injury). Unfortunately, I'm not up to date with the latest trends in software and hardware unlike when I was taking up my diploma in computer studies (eg. friendster, Half-life, MMO etc.) so I really felt "Old School" in building my website. Anyway, I still used notepad for my site, I took a class in Macromedia Dreamweaver but I guess I forgot most of it and in truth, I still feel really comfortable using notepad and some JavaScript. I added a little flash movie using Macromedia Flash 5 since I find using Flash 5 to be so cool! It's easy to use and takes up little space and it loads fast, also not forgetting how flexible it is in creating pictures and interactive presentations. Basically it's just cool. The pictures, I took with my Fujifilm FinePix F440 and Sony Cyber-shot digital camera which is a birthday gift from my sister, thanks a lot to my Mamanchkin for taking some of the pictures. I love taking pictures! I'm planning to take up digital photography as a hobby and possibly even make money out of it, I just hope it won't be difficult for a color-blind person like me. I edited the pictures using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, this was really fun! I didn't know photo manipulation can be so challenging and entertaining (most of the time I experimented with it). I would like to take up a formal class module of Photoshop 7.0, I think that would be nice. Anyway I just used a simple theme for this new website (the less, the better), just taking note of load speed and some animaton.                 I'm also inactive at Philippine Heart Center Aikido Dojo due to schedule constraints. It has been a long time since I have visited the mats, and I have to rehabilitate my body before I can practice. I'm trying to lose weight due to my hypertension and intake of corticosteroids, presently I have dropped from 165 lbs. to 153 lbs. (Thank you BIGGEST LOSER) and I plan to reach the 145 lbs. mark, and I'm also planning to reach my Nidan (2nd degree blackbelt) in Aikido. It is unfortunate that I'm also to busy to attend my Karate class, (I think it's the greatest cardiovascular exercise! ). I guess I have to start with my Taichi lessons.                 Sadly, there were a lot of of my pets that passed away. Bobot, my Chinese Sharpei and the original J3 mascot died in 2003 due to kidney failure. I think it was due to his salty diet. All my oscars in my pond suffered from a fungal infection because of the flood water that seeped into the pond, I think that was in 2001 or 2002. Tasha (2006), my mini-pincher also died due to complications caused by dirofilariasis or heart worm disease. A lot also died in our farm but I guess I can't recall all of them since I don't spend much time on the farm.                 I think that's enough for an update, It would really be difficult to remember all things that have happened in the past 5 years. Anyway, I guess this is my "blog space" so to speak, and if anyone is really visiting this site I would like to say thank you for the time in browsing around, and hope you enjoy :D. Joshua Daryl V.
