o.about==================================JOSHUA DARYL V. NAVARRO, BSBio: My Home on the Web

In 2001, I was certified as an Internet Professional from Informatics Computer Institute SM North Edsa. The Joshua Daryl V. Navarro: My Home on the Web has been my website for almost 7 years now, it first started with the Joshua Tree Homepage where my knowledge on building html was from a tutorial file given to me, that tutorial taught me the basics of creating a webpage using notepad, true enough it still is the backbone of my knowledge in webpage design, and I will always be grateful to that tutorial. I never had the hang of using Microsoft FrontPage because it seems to me like designing the webpage using the Microsoft Word office, although I must admit that it is the easiest in designing web pages. Anyway, then I came to know of Macromedia Flash, I used Macromedia Flash on the renovation of the Joshua Tree Homepage into the J3 HomePage (J3 is short for Joshua Tree).
I did not finish the J3 Homepage because I just sort of became bored with it, but I learned some JavaScript (and some Java applets) and also used it on the page. I found out that it loads too slow and the use of frameset sometimes upsets the layout especially intermittent internet signals. I did a splash page of the J3 HomePage for underconstruction and for a while I did not get around in doing it. Then I took up the modular class of Certified Internet Professional Program to augment my knowledge on web designing and web developing and passed (2001). I then designed the Philippine Heart Center Aikido Club website which was actually a project for my subject in web designing. That was my first complete website with graphics, buttons, flash movie, JavaScript, DHTML, Perl, Java applets and the whole nine yards. I used Corel Draw 9.0 for the graphics, notepad for html and I just scanned some of the pictures (I forgot the model of my scanner). For quite some time I was really busy maintaining that website. I then became busy on programming (Turbo Pascal 7.0, JavaScript) and OOP or Object Oriented Programming (Visual Basic 6.0), although I was approached to do the Neurosonology Philippine Chapter website, although the project was at least 60% complete, the project was shelved. I then took up a modular class on Macromedia Flash and Macromedia Dreamweaver, regretfully I did not take up the Adobe Photoshop module. Having been a little familiar with Macromedia Flash, I did a little beta page for the Philippine Heart Center Aikido Club and for my webspace on Lycos.                 Designing using the Macromedia Flash had me thinking that a webpage should have the necessary fundamentals and not too much graphics, animation, pictures etc. I remembered my first lesson in web designing in the tutorial that no matter how beautiful or impressive your website is, people won't have the patience to view it if loads too slow (although in the advent of Internet Service Providers today, internet speed in not much of a problem), or if the color scheme is not good, and the layout is not proper. I then designed an underconstruction splash page for the J3 HomePage using only simple small graphics and JavaScript for dynamic rollovers (I learned my lesson in dynamic buttons, it takes too loooooong). And then I took up my second degree and it seemed that having the time to do my website was next to impossible.                 Now, 5 years later (and thanks to my semestral break and light unit load) I finally got around in constructing a very simple design for the new Joshua Daryl V. Navarro: My Home on the Web. With minimal graphics, Flash movies and still more JavaScripts (I love 'em!), although I have to say that the color scheme, the layout and photo manipulation still needs some work.. but compared to the other J3 webpages, I believe this contains all the fundamentals I thought for a good webpage (of course, the overall depends upon the content). I'll try to post some of my earlier works (although it really is amateurish..). http://phcaikido.tripod.com/ http://www.geocities.com/joshua_daryl/bioks.html http://www.geocities.com/joshua_daryl/nsg-pna/neurosonology_sample.html http://www.geocities.com/joshua_daryl/beta_version/beta.html http://joshua_navarro.tripod.com Joshua Daryl V.
