| The following is a timeline of events that have occured at Cedar Point. If you would like to contribute an event, please email the webmaster. |
| 1870: Louis Zistel brings guests to the beach at Cedar Point. 1888: The Grand Pavilion is built. 1892: Switchback Railway is built. 1897: George Boeckling buys Cedar Point for $256,000 and turns it into something much better than it was before. 1901: The White House Hotel is built. 1902: The Three-Way Figure-Eight Roller Toboggan is built. 1905: The Hotel Breakers is built. 1905: Lagoons are dug out. 1908: Dip the Dips scenic railway is built. 1910: The Three-Way Figure-Eight Roller Toboggan is removed. 1910: The Racer is built. 1912: Leap the Dips is built. 1915: George Boeckling retires. 1918: The Leap Frog Railway is built. 1929: The Cyclone is built. 1931: George Boeckling dies. 1946: Midway Carousel is built. 1959: The Wild Mouse is built, after 30 years of no new roller coasters. 1961: Several Thrill Rides are added, most of which are not standing today. 1964: Blue Streak is built, as is currently the oldest operating roller coaster at Cedar Point today. 1969: Cedar Creek Mine Ride is built. 1976: Corkscrew is built. 1978: Gemini is built. 1979: Wildcat is built. 1988: Soak City opens. 1989: Magnum XL-200 is built as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world and is the first roller coaster taller than 200 feet. 1991: Meanstreak is built. 1994: Raptor is built. 1996: Mantis is built. 1998: Power Tower is built. 2000: Millennium Force opens as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, and the first to be taller than 300 feet. 2002: Wicked Twister is built. 2003: Top Thrill Dragster is built as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, and is the first to be taller than 400 feet. |
