A few words on clusters.
Clusters appear to be harboring the gravitational "nasties"
of the universe.
Once they get out of their infant, then adolescent stage,
black holes suck up entire groups of galaxies, getting
bigger and bigger throughout time. Often they appear as
clusters while the surrounding masses get accreted into the
black hole. Clusters, the sometimes covering for black
holes, appear to come in all sizes. Most however,
presumably, if approaching black hole status, have a huge
gravitational field and stronger than normal magnetic fields
as well, in fact, probably approaching magnetar status due
to the massive warped spacetime that a cluster engenders.
If the black holes are a binary or higher system of equal
mass gravitational objects, they may even have galactic
"jets" spewing out radiation and mass at ultra high
velocities if a zero gravity port conditions permit.
Now, before everybody shrieks that clusters are not black
holes, let me explain (er... hypothesize) that visible
clusters are probably just a covering layer of visible stars
or star material in front of a black or binary, tertiary, or
higher gravitational system. For example, the Norma cluster
aka: "The Great Attractor" (ACO 3627) can in no way NOT be
a huge black hole system with its gravitation.
The Norma we see is just a covering for a very nasty Norma
with 50,000,000,000,000,000 solar masses. i understand that
number reads 'fifty quadrillion' !
All clusters have to be reexamined for ultra gravity.
Now certainly, there must be a lot of little low cal
clusters of stars that are collectively under the 500 or (483)
less solar mass black hole threshold. This type of cluster
would just red-shift out to invisibility as they approached
the collective escape velocity of c, and actually fool people
into thinking that they are far, far, away because of the
red-shifting. These little systems, as light weight as they
are, they still require a great amount of care in putt-
putting your spaceship around. Your spaceship better be
able to be *(deleted four letter 'f' word)* fast to get out
of high gravity's harm's way.

Clusters are the nastiest gravitational *deleted* out
there.
Super Suck
The Norma Cluster, has consumed mass to the point that its
solar mass, and the gravitation that goes along with it,
currently amounts to 50,000,000,000,000,000 (5x10^16) solar
masses, i am told.
Although visible from the death throes of the ingoing
accreting radiating masses, its event horizon is continually
growing in diameter and once the shiny stuff is sucked up it
goes back to its invisibility status until it starts picking
on our own local group of 46 (plus or minus a few) galaxies
as well as some other smallish black holes themselves within
the various accreting galaxies. Our current ETA at the Norma
cluster is about 3 billion years. Last i read it was a
comfortable 250,000,000 light years away and closing.
Hmmm..., i wonder if anybody has made a blue-shift - red
shift test on Norma... i mean, if it is heading our way
(relatively) wouldn't it appear blue-shifted? And if the
entire local group is closing on Norma, wouldn't all the
local group galaxies be coming slightly closer together over
time? interesting. oh well, leave that for the experts...
My take is: 'no blue shift, no approach... the whole thing
then becomes bunk.
Bad Seed
Not all gravitational clusters have to be that big to work
their mischief. Once you get past the rough theoretical 500
or 483 solar mass number, the system "blacks out" because the
escape velocity exceeds c and continues to draw mass into it
with an ever expanding event horizon as the solar mass
additions pile up.
There appear to be many smallish black holes, some appearing
as clusters within our own tiny galaxy which is only 100,000
light years in diameter (roughly) which we do NOT want to run
into. Best first uneducated guess, would be at least 36 of
the black monsters floating around our LP.
By the way, while i think of it, if we are in fact a
"barred" galaxy, all that would mean that our galaxy is sort
of new and the distribution of mass from the closing
internal binary black holes hasn't been completed yet.
Andromedea would then appear to be much older a galaxy than
ours since it is a spiral galaxy. It again, is just a guess
but the configuration speaks for itself. If it turns out
that ours is a spiral too then all bets are off for our
"newness".
And one more "by the way...". The actual solar mass amount
required to have an escape velocity greater than c may be
much less than the linear rough estimate of the 500 number.
Even the Norma cluster with its 50,000,000,000,000,000 solar
mass would theoretically be just a little flit of a thing in
comparison to the real big boys at the edges of our visible
cosmos.

Eternal Time? hmmm... that's an assumption too isn't it...
So you can see our tiny little galaxy with its tiny little
star, with its tiny little planets, with its tiny little
people, with their tiny little greedy aspirations and
ambitions and greed get no respect from galactic forces.
It isn't that your aspirations aren't important, it is just
that we are just sort of very small pieces of *delete*
fleashit in their eyes and don't even know it...
Now that we have ourselves all puffed up, let's talk about
something else we can't change...
Getting out of Dodge
Can mankind escape its fate? Yes, of course we can. All we
have to do to escape the 3 billion year deadline is to
develop lifeboat spaceships that are capable of traveling
against the ever increasing velocity towards the Norma
cluster. That is, develop speeds that can escape away from
the Norma cluster which would currently be in excess of
1,000,000 miles per hour. The escape velocity ante from
Norma is being upped continually however.
Now we have to steer our little lifeboat spaceship target
against every incoming pea pod, snowball and rock and
asteroid and planet and star and galaxy which is coming in
towards Norma and our lifeboat at the currently 1,000,000
mile rate. talk about getting sand blasted.
And we have to do it until we are far enough away from any
Normas so that the escape velocity from Norma is down to
almost zero. And then we have to stay out of range from any
other high gravitational mass afterwards and away from any
high radiation mass forever afterwards. easy. a piece of
cake.
Of course mankind can do it.
Mankind can't even drop water and food to it's own starving
citizens in New Orleans with its EXISTING gassed and ready
helicopters. Like we can create world peace too.
hopeless.
just plain *delete* hopeless...
we're goin' 'round and 'round, and down the toilet like the
carbon based bipedal *delete* dust and ashes we are...

"Fine Joe! but in a word, you must stop!
You are being way too imaginative and presumptive...
Even the most advanced peoples from other locations within
the local group will suffer the same fate if that destiny
that you hypothesize occurs. The terminal fate of all
radiating systems and their attendant life is not caused
by their lacks or inabilities, it is just quite simply a
galactic reality, to which we must mentally adapt and
accept."
Joseph_sixpack:
"Yeah like some criminal facing the morning firing squad."
Dr. David Advocate:
"Hardly...
Certainly at everybody's end time, or the end time for
the galaxy, termination of consciousness is certain, but
that road need not be buried in anguish or despair.
There is still plenty of time for God and plenty of time
to accept that nasty, untoward galactic reality which,
disturbing as it is to you and all lifeforms,
incorporates our own solar system's and galaxy's final
destiny."
In any event, the termination or replacement of our
species may not be that all drawn out in time given the
standard cosmic hazards to life."

of stars in space!"
aw: "Well then, will you speak english ever?"
js: "The Norma cluster is also called the "Great Attractor"
which is in space and which said to have about:
50,000,000,000,000,000 solar masses and is
gravitationally drawing us and 46 plus or minus a few
other galaxies to it currently at the rate of one
million miles per hour which is why they call it the
great attractor....
aw: "just out of idle curiousity, where else would some-
thing with 50 quadrillion solar masses be besides in
space?
js: "now you are just being difficult..."
aw: "and what's this "us" stuff kemosabi? you go, i stay.
js: "sigh..."
aw: "okay, assuming you know what the "bleep" you are
talking and i know what the "bleep" you are talking
about, what's the problem? like you can do anything
about it?
js: "The problem is the event horizon.
aw: "Oh! of course, yes, that is quite clear..."
js: "will you stop!"
aw: "i will if you will."
js: "well, the event horizon of something with 50 quad-
rillion solar masses might extend out past the
observed diameter of the Norma Cluster.
aw: "and?..."
js: "Well, if it did, you wouldn't be able to see the
cluster!
aw: "Well, i am certainly glad you solved that problem.
now, can i go back to what i was doing before?"
js: "LOOK! That could mean that my "Bubbles in Space"
theory could be wrong!
aw: "Seems like you are a pretty good bubble in space to
me.
js: "i have to think this out..."
aw: "well, go outside when you think."

js: "Maybe the attractor lies behind the norma cluster?..."
"Maybe the stars of the cluster are still distant and
still in front of the event horizon?"
"Just how much of an event horizon radius would be
generated under 50 quadrillion solar masses anyhow?"
"Maybe the radiating stars lie behind the great attractor and
are just being wrapped gravitationally around it?..."
"maybe the "bubbles in space" hypothesis requires and
are generated by objects far greater than 50 quad-
rillion solar masses?"
"jeez! how high is high?"
"Aw Christ! doing this shit on your own is hopeless.."
aw: "Ask Dr. David Advocate for an answer when he shows,
maybe he knows?"
