José Lucas is one of the most
promising classical guitarist in Sweden.
|
|
He’s been
hailed by the press as ”…one of the the best young classical guitarist in the country”,
|
|
Besides
concerts as a soloist, José has been preforming with symphony orchestra
|
|
and unequalled chamber
musical constellations, including violinists, flautists,
|
|
violists, vocalists
and pianists.
|
|
He has interviewed och
preformed on Radio and The Swedish Television.
|
|
|
|
He was born in in 1982 in the
Philippines but came to Borås, Sweden with his family at the age of 10.
|
|
He began to play guitar at the
age of 11 and studied between 1994-2001 at
|
|
Borås School Of Music for guitar teacher Tomas Persson.
|
|
After graduation, he started to teach in the same school where
he had approximately 36 students and conducted
|
|
a guitar orchestra for High School Students.
|
|
In 2003, he was accepted at The Royal College Of Music in
Stockholm under the guidance of Prof. Mats Bergström and
Peter
Berlind-Carlson, were he will be recieving
his Bachelor Of Arts in Music in 2006.
|
|
He is applying
for an exchange student program in Barcelona, Paris and Saltzburg for
his third year.
|
|
Besides his
studies at The Royal College of Music, José has taken a postgraduate
course at The School Of Music in
|
|
Piteå, Sweden
under the guidance of Tilman Hoppstock, Professor at The Academy of
Music in Darmstadt, Germany.
|
|
|
|
José Lucas has appeared in
some guitar and instrumental competitions, domestic and abroad, such as
finalist at
|
|
The Royal Musical Academy Competition
for Young Talents 2000, semifinalist at The Llangollen
|
|
Eistedfodd
International Instrumental Competition 2003, in Wales and finalist at
Stora Jörgen Rörby-stipendiet 2004.

|
He has recieved scholarships
from The Royal Musical Academy Youth Scholarship 1999,

Vivian Weylerths Foundation 2002, Borås Kulturnämndens Kulturstipendium
2004,

Byggnads
Kulturstipendium 2004, were he recieved it from
the swedish primeminister Göran Persson,

2004 and a scholarship to participate the famous Aspen Music Festival

in Colorado,
USA and got Master Classes for Sharon Isbin, Professor of the Guitar
Department
|
|
at Juilliard
School Of Music, NY.

José has participated in master
classes and lessons with well known classical guitarists and
professors,
|
|
such as Jonh Mills, Antigoni
Goni, Jukka Savijokki, Erik Stenstavold, Alex Garrobé, Sharon Isbin,
Tilman Hoppstock ,Sven Lundestad,
Carlos Barbosa-Lima and Jakob
Lindberg.
