Well, my memorial day weekend was awesome. I didn't barbecue, go to the pool, or visit relatives. Instead I worked everyday but Saturday. It was a great weekend because I watched 3 of the best baseball games this season. On Saturday the Schilling game had me on the edge of my seat, until a controversial bunt broke up a perfect game. On Sunday the Diamondbacks bench  showed why they're the best bench in the majors, hammering twin two-run blasts off Trevor Hoffman.
To cap off my Memorial Day weekend I kicked back and watched Randy Johnson go head to head with Giants pitcher Mark Gardner. 7 innings of shutout baseball by both pitchers prepared me for a heart-stopping display of absolute clutch hitting by the Giants' Felipe Crespo, the Diamondbacks' Erubiel Durazo, and Mark Grace.
All Giant fans in attendance were hoping for a Barry Bonds homer to tie him with Giant great Willie McCovey. Maybe some were disappointed but this Memorial day belonged to the Diamondbacks.
Bret Prinz made his fourteenth appearance and did something he had not done since being called up from Tucson, he actually gave up a run.In the bottom of the 10th. Felipe Crespo, just recalled prior to the game, gave Prinz his first taste of defeat hitting a one-run shot  into McCovey Cove. They young closer was rattled but maintained his composure and kept the 1st place Diamondbacks in the hunt by getting them out of the ninth with no further damage.
Offensively the Diamondbacks have relied on the long ball recently. The longest ball today was hit in the top of the 12th by Mark Grace, a one run shot into the pacific. In the bottom of the 12th Pedro Feliz tried to get the Giants back into the game but was robbed of a lead-off homerun by gold-glover Steve Finley. For Snake fans this was a very memorable Memorial weekend.
