A) Writing is interesting, detailed, informative, and keeps the reader interested

B) Vocabulary is creative and intelligent

C) Strong introduction, body, and conclusion

D) Paragraphs and sentences follow a clear sequence

 

Mechanics

E) Writing length is appropriate (usually 500-800 words)

F) Very few or no spelling errors

G) Correct capitalization, punctuation, indentation, and grammar usage

H) Sentence and paragraph structure are proper

I) Handwriting is presentable and easily legible

Content

A) Writing is appropriate and engages the reader

B) Vocabulary is somewhat descriptive

C) Introduction, body, and conclusion are appropriate

D) Paragraph and sentence order makes sense

E) Writing length is below requirement

F) Few spelling errors that do not inhibit readability

G) Correct capitalization, punctuation, indentation, and grammar used throughout most of the writing

G) Capitalization, punctuation, indentation, and grammar usage is inconsistent

H) Sentence and paragraph structure are not appropriate

I) Handwriting is legible

A) Writing is uninformative

B) Vocabulary is basic and lacks description

C) No distinction between introduction, body, and conclusion

D) Information presented is unclear

E) Writing length is minimal

F) Many spelling errors that affect readability

G) Little or no evidence of proper capitalization, punctuation, indentation or grammar usage

H) Sentence and paragraph structure are not appropriate or correct

I) Handwriting is not legible at times.
