1. EVIL DEAD 2 - Well it's got everything hasn't it but mainly it has Bruce Campbell and lots of him. I can honestly say I will never get tired of this film. From the first time I saw the trilogy I was hooked. It's funny, scary, horrific and with endlessly quotable dialogue. For the uninitiated it is the remake/sequel of the popular Evil Dead 1 which concerned five youngsters going to a deserted cabin in the woods and having found a mysterious tape recorder belonging to a strange old acheologist and the book of the dead, they unwittingly unleash the spirits in the woods around the cabin. These unseen forces pick the group off one by one until nobody is left except the hero Ashley J Williams (Ash) played by Bruce Campbell (Legend).
Evil Dead 2's first 30mins or so, re-caps this premise but with just Ash and his girlfriend Linda, who dies early on. After that it takes it to a whole new level and follows Ash through the phychalogical and physical horror of being trapped in this cabin being taunted by the spirits. Meanwhile the daughter of Professor Knobe (who owns the cabin) and her boyfriend, along with two local hillbillies are journeying to the cabin to see what has become of the professor. Ash has had to remove his possesed hand with a chainsaw and in the final segments of the film, after the spirits have wiped out most of the crew except Annie (the daughter), Ash actually replaces his stump with a chainsaw rig and with the addition of a sawn off shotgun, makes the leap to full blown action icon.
This developement and the following historical/action/horror sequel "Army of Darkness" , means that Ash's character neatly follows the rules of the horror Trilogy (see also Scream, Alien and Halloween 1,2 & 7). In otherwords the character is naive in the first one, tormented but learns strength in the second, and kicks arse in the third!
I could go on forever about these films, such is my love for them, but why don't you watch them for yourself and also watch EVRYTHING Bruce Campbell has been in.
Evil Dead 2 is available on DVD on it's own and also part of the EVIL DEAD TRILOGY Boxset (EXCELLENT)

2. Re-Animator - The brilliant Jeffery Combs as Herbert West is probably my second favourite B Movie horror actor, certainly in this role. The whole film is great  though and there isn't a bad performance in it (shame about the sequels). Also, the infamous 'severed head gives oral sex' scene is a hoot! and well worth getting hold of the un-cut millenium edition DVD for. The plot, as it is, revolves around the lives of 3 medical students. One of who, Herbert West, has discovered a substance that will re-animate corpses and all sorts of havoc is created and craziness insues.
Re-Animator is available on video and DVD - the best version being the Millenium Edition from Elite Entertainment.
