| Ded's stat-items page. |
| This page should give a low-down on all the stat-boosting items currently in game. Those listed are :- Bronze Helm, Flat Cap, Warrior's Braincell, Iron Gauntlets, Thieves daggers, Stat-headbands, and Stat-necklaces. Also included is information on the temporary stat-boosts available from the ritual Bless, and from the Shrine of Small Gods in Ohulan Cutash. Worn/Carried stat items - WARNING - only one of these can be used at a time, if you try using more than one at once, you'll get major stat drops whenever both items are worn/held Bronze Helm (+3 int, +2 wis, -3 con) This item gives a temporary stat-boost when worn, which lasts for a short while after its removal. If it is worn for too long, it gives you a headache, and can kill - the best thing to do is to wear and then remove the helm with consecutive commands, and not to rewear the helm until you see 'You feel dizzy for a moment, but it passes'. This indicates that your stats have reset, and that it is safe to rewear the helm. This item is of most use to Wizards, wishing to increase the potency of their spells. Flat Cap (+3 wis, +2 int, -3 str) This item is similar to the Bronze Helm, also giving a temporary boost to your stats. The same applies though - prolonged wearing can kill you - so it is wise to wear and remove the cap immediately, and then wait until your stats reset to rewear it. This items if of greatest use to Priests, who wish to increase their faith skills by supplimenting their wisdom. Iron Gauntlets. (+2 str, uses gp while worn) These Gauntlets are a quest item, though you can also buy them from players who don't use theirs, or from player-run shops. They give a boost to your strength whilst they are worn, but drain some of your gp in order to do this. They're also quite a good armour of their own right. Dex Gloves (+2 dex, uses gp while worn) This gloves can be bought from the travelling shop, or from player-shops on occasion. They are similar to the Iron Gauntlets, but give the boost to dexterity instead of strength. Also, they are quite easily damaged in combat. Good for thieves and assassins. Thieve's Daggers (+1 dex) These daggers are quest items, which give a bonus of +1 to your dexterity if both are held. Only the person who completed the quest can use the daggers obtained - so you can't buy these anywhere. They are of most use to thieves and assassins, though anyone of a violent frame of mind will find them quite useful :) One drawback is that you need to hold both daggers to get the stat-boost, so if you loose one, you need to get a magic lamp to replace it - which costs $$$. Stat-headbands. (+3 to chosen stat, -1 to all others) These headbands are quest items, and can only be used by their rightful owner - you can't buy them. When worn, they give a boost of +3 to one stat (dependant on which headband you choose) and cause a -1 penalty on all the other stats. Stat-necklaces (+1 to chosen stat) These items are another quest item, from the same quest as the headbands - when worn they give a +1 boost to your selected stat, but give no side effects (unlike the headband's -1 in all other skills). Can only be worn by their rightful owner. Other stat-boosts (can be used in conjuction with any of the above, and each other) Bless (priestly ritual - temporary boost of +1 to all stats) This ritual can be cast on you by a friendly priest of Gufnork, Hat, Gapp and Fish, and can also be cast by people using a Forest Green Cane, Red Mace, Yellow Rod or Silver Flail. Wisdom boost from the Shrine of Small Gods in Ohulan Cutash, and from Shrine in the Ramtops (+1 or +2 to wisdom) This temporary stat boost is obtained by waiting around in the shrine of Small Gods in OC, and in the Shrine in the Ramtop mountains. This will give a +1 wis boost after a while. To get +2 wisdom, leave once you have +1, and re-enter and wait once more. The boost, according to Warrax's page, lasts around 10 minutes. Warrior's Braincell (+1 int for Warriors, +1 str -1 int for others) This item can be bought in the travelling shop, or in player-run shops (I buy at $20 in my shop, for example). It gives a temporary stat-boost when eaten. Please note that eating two of these at once doesn't give a doubled boost, so use them one at a time. Especially useful for Warrior's needing a little extra intelligence to berserk. Intelligence tea (possible increase to intelligence) This can be brewed by witches, similar to healing tea. It is rumoured that it can give a boost to intelligence, if well enough brewed, but a drop if it is made incorrectly. I don't know much about this, but the effects are temporary, so it could be worth a try :) Sek's altar (+1 str) This boost can be obtained at Sek's low altar in AM, by placing a fresh human heart on the altar as a sacrifice to the god. The boost lasts a while, and can be helpful for new Warriors wondering around AM looking for targets.
