The Warrior's Guild
The Warrior's Guild is perhaps the easiest guild to start a new charactor in, and also one of the most powerful. For these reasons it is probably the most popular guild (along with the almost equally popular Wizard's Guild).

Basically, the Warrior's guild consists of people who want to walk around the disc hacking, slashing and bashing monsters and other people to death. Especially at low levels, the fact that they get pretty much all the fighting skill tree as primaries means that they can gather xp far faster than members of other guild, and are probably more powerful.

Warriors get the following primaries (skills which you can train up within the guild for far cheaper xp costs than learning from other players).

fighting.combat.melee.sharp
fighting.combat.melee.pierce
fighting.combat.melee.blunt
fighting.combat.melee.unarmed
fighting.combat.range.thrown
fighting.combat.range.fired
fighting.combat.parry.melee
fighting.combat.parry.range
fighting.combat.dodging.melee
fighting.combat.dodging.range
fighting.combat.special.weapon
fighting.combat.special.unarmed
fighting.points
other.evaluating.weapons
other.evaluating.armour.

Warriors also get the following commands... (for a list of all such commands in the game, along with the skills required to learn them,
go here)

Berserk

Quoting from help Berserk

'Drawing on your heritage, you can attempt to enter the fabled berserker state of mind using this command.  Berserkers are great fighters who can enter a state where they fight many times quicker than normal, with no regard for damage being done to them.  Your ability in fighting.combat.special.tactics determines your chances of entering the  state, which lasts longer with increasing skill and fighting  points (note that all of your fighting points are taken and that  you need 50 points to make the attempt).  After leaving  the
berserker state, if your system survives the shock, you will  need to rest for quite a while before you can go berserk again.'

Berserk is a very useful command when fighting really nasty things (like hermits) - basically, a successful berserk will raise your hit points (as far as I know by 50%) for the duration of the berserker state, along with giving you 50% more attacks per combat round. Be warned though - once the berserk finishes, your stats will be reduced for a period of time while you recover from the berserk.

Berserk will allow you to tm fi.co.sp.ta, but you will need a minimum bonus of 150 in this skill to ever succeed in a berserk. Below this, you will fail every time and never tm... where as above this bonus the fraction of attempts you succeed in varies with your bonus - at 150, you'll only rarely succeed.

One final warning, if you are badly injured during berserk, if is possible to die when the berserker state finishes - be warned.

Also, during berserk, your wimpy is set to 0 - you will be in brave mode. Remember this when you leave the state, since you'll have to reset it manually - I've died a couple of times when I've forgotten to reset my wimpy :).

The syntax to berserk is simply to type 'berserk'

Bob

This is a truely bizarre command, rarely used other than for comedy value. Basically, it allows you to bob your opponants head into a bucket containing an apple. To attempt this you need a bucket and an apple, and the attempt will cost you 10gp.

Syntax - bob <target>

for example -

bob ded
You prepare to bob ded.

Crush

The more powerful of the two blunt special commands, again quoting from help crush.

'With this command you can attempt an overhead strike against one of your opponents with a blunt weapon.  This means that you prepare yourself for a special crushing attack that replaces, and can be much more damaging than, your next regular round of attacks.  Your ability in fighting.combat.special.weapon determines your ability to prepare, which costs 45 fighting points, while your skill with your chosen weapon determines the efficacy of your crushing attack.  Given the nature of combat in general and the crush attack in particular, you must be using offensive tactics to use the command and you must be concentrating on your chosen target. '

This command is great - with my skills as Ded, I can do ~1.6khp crushes with a Retribution, for example.

In order to put yourself into offensive attitude, in order to use these special attacks, type 'tactics attitude offensive'

Syntax for crush - 'crush <target> with <weapon>'
For example

crush ded with club 1
You prepare to crush ded with the giant wooden club

Disarm

This command basically allows you to attempt to make your opponant drop their weapon. The attempt will take you 40 gp, and if you fail you may fumble your own weapon, or take a blow to the hand, causing you pain (especially if you aren't holding a weapon).

If you are holding a weapon, your likelyhood of succeeding with the disarm depends on both your fi.co.sp.we bonus and the weight of weapon you're holding - it's easier to disarm with a sledgehammer than a toothpick, for example.  It also depends on the skill of your opponant - it's easier to disarm a child than it would be to disarm a hermit in the Oasis. If you are unarmed, your likelyhood of sucess is determined by your fi.co.sp.un bonus.

Syntax - disarm <target>
Example - Disarm ded
You prepare to disarm ded.

Guard

This command allows you, if you are skillful enough, to prevent people from leaving you room in a given direction. This is particularly useful for player killers, who wish to trap a target in a room for long enough to kill them - especially useful for the game 'Capture the flag', should it ever return to the game. It is also useful for keeping groups of high-xp targets in yourroom while you kill them.

The success you have in guarding an exit depends on the following things.

1) Your weight
2) Your skill in fi.co.pa.me
3) Your skill in fi.co.sp.ta
4) Your targets weight, and their skill at fi.co.do.me and fi.co.sp.ta.

For every 5 seconds a target is trying to evade your guard, the command will cost you 10gp.

Syntax - The syntax for this command is hard to get right, so you will probably find it easiest to just use - guard <exit> against everyone. Help guard will give you the other syntaxes.

Example - Guard south against everyone
You begin to guard the south exit against everyone

Guard south against noone
You stop guarding the south exit.

Hack

This is one of the lower level special attacks, along with Kick, Punch and Strike. If successful, you hack your weapon into your target, doing more damage than would be done by a normal attack. Obviously to use this attack, you must be holding an edged weapon (an axe or a sword, for example). Preparation of this type of attack is goverened by your fi.co.sp.we bonus, and the damage done and success with the attack is determined by your skill with the weapon in question.

Syntax - Hack at <target> with <weapon>
Example - hack at ded with axe
You prepare to hack at ded with the two-handed axe.

Iai

To iai someone, you initiate combat by drawing your sword from its scabbard and swinging for them all in one go.  This technique originated on the Counter-weight continent, and costs 60 guild points to attempt. Your hands must be free in order to attempt this move, and as far as I know, you can only iai with a one handed sharp weapon (such as a katana or wakizashi). Your ability to prepare the attack is apparently determined by your skill in fi.co.sp.un, whilst your ability to hit your target is governed by your proficiency  in fi.co.sp.we. The damage done by your attack is determined by you skill with your chosen weapon. You can't use this command whilst in combat (for the obvious reason that it is a command used to initiate the combat :P), but it can be a nice way to start a fight :).

syntax: iai <person> with <weapon>
example: iai ded with katana
You draw the katana from its scabbard and make a sweeping slash at ded

Impale

Impale is a special command which, if carried out successfully, impales your target on your pierce weapon of choice. To attempt to impale someone takes 45 guild points, and the probability of sucess is determined by fi.co.sp.we (for the preparation) and fi.co.me.pi (for the attack itself).  Impale is the pierce equivelent of crush (in that it is a powerful special command when compared to Hack, Strike, Kick and Punch).

Syntax - impale <target> with <weapon>
Example - impale ded with katana.
You prepare to impale ded with the katana

Judge

This command allows you to attempt to judge how good a weapon is, or to judge it against another. It uses your skill in other.evaluating.weapons, and each attempt takes 25 other points to judge one weapon, and 50 other points to judge one weapon against another.

Syntax: judge <weapon>, judge <weapon> against <weapon>

Examples:
judge katana
You look closely at the katana
You think that the katana is a rather good weapon.

judge katana against wakizashi
You look closely at the katana and the wakizashi
You think that the katana is a bit better than the wakizashi.

Kick

As the name suggests, this command allows you to kick you target very hard :) This command is quite a weak one, when compared with crush and impale, after all - which would hurt you more - a well placed kick, or a well placed blow with a sledgehammer? - but it can still be very useful in combat. Your ability to prepare the attack is governed by your bonus in fi.co.sp.un, whilst the damage done is determined by fi.co.me.un. To prepare a kicking attack uses up 15 of your fighting guild points. As far as I know, though I stand to be corrected on this, whatever you're wearing on your feet has no effect on the strength of the attack.

Syntax: kick <target>
Example: kick ded
You prepare to kick ded

Punch

This attack is the upper body equivelent of kick, although you have to have at least one hand free to use it. As with kick, to prepare takes 15 gp, and damage done is determined by your fi.co.me.un bonus, with the preparation skill being fi.co.sp.un.

Syntax: punch <target>
Example: punch ded
You prepare to punch ded

Riposte

This special attack is rather sneaky and especially useful against some high-level npc's such as hermits - basically, if you attempt to riposte someone, you are attempting to use their attack against them by parrying their blow and replying while they are overextended. For this reason, you not only need to be in offensive tactics for this command, but your response must also be set to parry. Preparation costs 15 gp, and is determined by fi.co.sp.we, whilst your skill with your chosen weapon determines the damage you do. You must also be using a sword-type weapon in order to riposte at someone.

Syntax: riposte <target> attack with <weapon>
Example: riposte ded attack with katana
You prepare to riposte against ded with with katana

Slash

Slash basically does what its name suggests - allows you to attempt to take a slash at someone with a knife or sword-type weapon. Again, this command is less damaging in general than impale or crush, and costs only 15gp to prepare. The skill fi.co.sp.we is used in preparation, and the damage is again determined by your skill with the weapon used.

Syntax: slash at <target> with <weapon>
Example: slash at ded with katana
You prepare to slash at ded with the katana.

Strike

Strike is, to be honest, the weaker sibling of crush - easier and cheaper to prepare, but less damaging. To prepare takes 15gp and is determined, as ever, by fi.co.sp.we, whilst the damage done is determined by your skills with your weapon (as you'd have guessed, having read the rest of the page :P)

Syntax: Strike <target> with <weapon>
Example: strike ded with sledgehammer
You prepare to strike ded with the sledgehammer.

Vurdere

Vurdere is the armour equivelent to judge - it allows you to determine how good or bad a particular piece of armour is, and to compare one armour against another.  It uses the skill other.evaluating.armour, and may be bugged at the moment - appearing to use 0gp. Watch this space.

Warcry

Cool command this one, that allows you to yell out something of your choice as you initiate something - attempting to make their blood curdle with fear! You must prepare your warcry before attacking - as it is yelled when you type kill <target>. It costs a mere 10gp to prepare, and its effects on your target depend on your bonus in fi.co.sp.ta (and the effect on all players within earshot depends on the wit involved in the cry :P).

Syntax: warcry <message>
Example: warcry I'm indebted to ded for his commands page!
               kill ded

You shout: I'm indebted to ded for his commands page!
You attack ded
