Jon Haffenden
Director Profile
Jon is a Project Manager, Designer and Developer of commercial systems with a strong technical background in Practice Management, Telecoms, Banking and Manufacturing software. Since graduating from the University of Hertfordshire with an Honours Degree in Computer Science, he has been involved in several state of the art development projects. These included Internet/Intranet design and Order Management and Workflow process re-engineering.Jon's last New Zealand role was as a Year 2000 Project Manager and Business Analyst for a large international exporter working within a SAP/Oracle environment. His current role is as a Senior Lead Business Analyst/Project Manager responsible for Order Management & Workflow within a Telecoms environment.
While in New Zealand Jon was employed as a Senior Business Analyst with an international exporter. In this role he liased with overseas customers, utilising his skills as a data modeller & functional specification writer and also as a Team Leader managing several developers. To enable successful Off-Shore development Jon became ‘Specification Editor’, which involved essential and critical peer review of design specifications.
Before joining Ethos, Jon was employed as a Designer with a leading international software house based in Auckland developing a world leading practice management system for the International Market-Place. In this role he acted as Business Analyst liaising with overseas customers, a Designer utilising his skills as a data modeller & functional specification writer and also as a Team Leader managing several developers.
Prior to his role as Designer, Jon was a Software Developer in Windows and Unix based 4GL’s as well as being an accomplished ‘C’ and Visual Basic programmer. His earlier permanent and contract roles included developing commercial packages in Gupta SQL Windows and Ingres Windows 4GL. Although he is currently more involved in design and analysis, he still believes in keeping his development skills sharply honed and greatly enjoys the creativity of programming.
In addition, Jon has extensive knowledge of banking systems both from a software developers perspective at NCR, where he was developing ATM System Software for the National Westminster Bank, and that of a Bank Clerk, where he spent his pre-graduate days pursuing a career in Personal Lending. Jon has also worked in the manufacturing industry developing a technical GUI based system for stress testing steel warehouse shelving structures.
Since emigrating from the UK in 1993, Jon had made New Zealand his permanent home until recently returning to the UK to gain further industry knowledge and experience. His after work activities include swimming, social sports, snorkelling and skiing.
