| *Maxtor hard drives install the easiest; the power and IDE connectors line up with the PS2 network adapter's connectors. **If any of the links do not work, the programs are easy to find using google.com. The PS2 can be enabled to play homebrew applications and game backups from the hard drive without a mod chip. Many homebrew applications are available, including SNES and Genesis emulators, hard drive managers, ftp programs, and many other useful utilities and games. When playing PS2 game backups from the HD, the loading times are a lot faster, and you dont have to get up and change the disks when switching to another game. If you have any questions about something in this guide, feel free to send me an email. First, install the PS2 HD into your PC as a secondary drive. You may have to go into your bios to get your PC to recognize it. Next, copy the system.cnf file on your original PS1 disk to C:\MC. Open the system.cnf file with notepad. The first line of code should look like: BOOT=cdrom:\SLUS_900.64;1 Unless you are using a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis demo disk, the numbers will be different so write down the SLUS_xxx.xx part. Put titleman.exe in the C:\MC folder. Open a MS-DOS command prompt, change to the C:\MC directory (DIR C:\MC) and enter: titleman -a SLUS_xxx.xx replacing xxx.xx with the numbers you wrote down from your disk. The program should create a TITLE.DB file. Run CDGenPS2 and drag and drop these files in this order: SYSTEM.CNF EXECFTPS.ELF CONFIG.DAT Right-click on the SYSTEM.CNF file. Check the "Fix LBA" and enter 12231. Click the "IMG" icon and create an ExecFTPs image. Next, run WinHIIP and install the ExecFTPs image onto the PS2 HD. If you havent formatted the PS2 HD with HDLoader yet, then you have to format it with WinHIIP before you transfer the image. When it finishes installing the ExecFTPs image, reinstall the HD into your PS2. Run HDLoader, and ExecFTPS should be in the game list. Run ExecFTPS and wait for it to show: FTP Server initialized on port 21!... Make sure your PS2 is connected to your PC's network (I use a router), and run FlashFXP on your PC. Choose 192.168.0.1 as the address and on the "Toggles" tab, uncheck "Use passive mode." If you cant connect, use the PS2 Network Setup disk to check your IP address. Once you connect, you should see three folders: hdd mc pfs Open the mc/0/BADATA-SYSTEM folder, and transfer BOOT.ELF (launchELF) and TITLE.DB from your PC onto the PS2 memory card. Next, create a folder on the memory card on the same level as the BADATA-SYSTEM folder named EXECFTP and transfer EXECFTPS.ELF and CONFIG.DAT. Create another folder named DMSTOOLS and transfer the DMS Tools .ELF files. Next, reboot your PS2 with the PS1 disk, and the LaunchELF program should run instead of the PS1 disk. Configure LaunchELF for the EXECFTPS.ELF and DMS .ELF programs (Circle is "select" button). Run the DMS hard drive utility, and create a partition for your PS2 applications. Reboot your PS2 and run ExecFTPS. Home Page 1 Page 2 |
