What's up With The Mumbis?

Jonathan: Thats me! I am got back from Jinja, Uganda a month ago. In the picture above, Dr. Darv Smith, Emmanuel Muchanga CAC (I) the School leader, myself (Jonathan), and Carol Smith MA Counseling congratulating Sandwell Maimbo from Zambiaduring ABCS graduation. I am still staffing the Addictive Behaviour Counseling School along with Emmanuel Muchanga from Kenya,Dr. Darv Smith and Carol Smith from the USA. Yesterday, on the 9th of May my team of 4 was joined by brian Mulipa who did his ABCS in Amterdam 2006. This week we are team teaching the basics of Family and Addictive Behaviours in a second seminar to members of the Youth Chaplaincy ministries on the Base. Next week we will be doing the same in the open air curio market in the hope of starting a support group there.

Jean: Amazingly, Jean started attending a Dress-making course (two hours Monday to Friday) with amazing results. The unfortunate part is that the course is by private tution and it costs about $66. The little catering project she did was helpful while it lasted. She fed 17 kids at a local primary school for a term. The School has found it more cost effective to  employ somebody to do the cooking for them permanently. Well in between school, keeping the overheads down can be a challenge. Lena suggested Jean get better glasses. I agree. The glasses she has are from a Worcester optometrist we visited 5 years ago. Unfortunately, we do not have that kind of quality optoemtrists arround. She needs lenses of different strengths and that can be tricky--of course a fly by night will always give you something because the bottom line for the ones we have  is cash in the pocket.!

JJ, Evans, and Abigail: Jonthan jnr, passed from middle to high school. Evans is working hard because his middle school exam is coming up at the end of this year. He is doing well and learning to type, play keyboards, and many other things that village kids to do not learn. We started a custom to encourage the kids when they do well. We go and eat out in their honor. This time round JJ had made it in the big exam, Abigail and Evans were both at the top of their classes so we had to do  that  to keep peace. Abigail was constantly asking, "when shall we go out?"
I have withdrawn my book, "Poems For A Better Africa" from this site. I would rather email it as an attachment in pdf format. For those interested in a copy it is still freely available if you request for it by email.
Quick prayer points!!
Pray for the communication between me and the graduate school and the rest of the finances for the Doctor of Ministry degree program to come in.

Pray for our family. In this part of the world one's responsibilities does not end at the nuclear family. We are having some tremendously difficult times. My mum has aged very rapidly (she is about 70) and connot hold together the family by using her hands to farm. She is not doing well physically.

We now have a piece of land in Kazungula where we hope to make our family home. It is also the gateway town between Zambia and Botswana--a great staging point for taking doing missions in northern Botswana. We have 18 months to show that we are seriously developing the site or else it will get repossessed.
In the family potrait from left to right is Jonathan Jnr (JJ), Evans, Jonathan Snr, Jean, Abigail and Jonathan'a mother.
Just in case you are still wondering, the top left picture is a picture of Jean and Jonathan, and the top right picture is of the ABC Staff and Jonathan was on staff too.
