WELCOME TO: J O H N S C H O L E R ' s C H R I S T I A N G U I T A R U N I V E R S E

It is my desire to promote all Christian arts focusing first on music. I hope that God allows me to use the talents He has given me with wisdom. I am a God-fearing believer who is currently going to college at EWU. I began writing and playing Christian music in 1999.

All vocals and instruments were recorded and played by myself as a solo project at home using five items:

AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR *I USED A ZOOM EFFECTS PEDAL AT HIGH VOLUME TRYING TO GET ELECTRIC SOUND.
TASCAM FOUR-TRACK *AN OLDER TASCAM (1988) - ONLY TWO CHANNELS WORK PROPERLY.

A MICROPHONE
NEW GEAR *CASIO PORTABLE KEYBOARD, PV BASS, AND A ZOOM 1010 FOOT PEDAL EFFECTS USED ON THE NEWER SONGS

   The audio quality is poor because I lacked certain key equipment and money. I have recorded three CDs. They are 'POORMAN CD's' (This is what I call them). Poorman CDs are made by using a $20 tape player to run analog music straight into the microphone jack of a computer unmixed. This is one of the reasons you'll hear a hiss, and surges in volume. The entire recording project cost me only time...hour after hour of trial and error learning.
   I compressed many of the songs too much (Mono 8-bit at 11,025Hz) just so I could fit them on my free (limited 2mb data) web page. I recorded the CDs in stereo, 16-bit at 44,100Hz (wav/aiff files). The audio quality of the CDs is better than the sound presented on my free web pages.
   I am a first year computer user who took a class to learn how to create a web page. I am applying new knowledge as I learn. I'm learning that there are not many qualified individuals creating sound files who are willing to provide assistance or knowledge that is useable by novice web page creators. I will try to provide a HOW-TO-TUTORIAL on sound files as soon as I gain more knowledge.
   Most of my music gear was given to me by several Christian friends. Without the help of these great Christian people and their support, I would not have been able to record, play or write the music God has placed in my heart. Jerry, Cim, Danny, my Sister Cindy, Parkland Community Church, and Mike at 23rd Psalms in Nashville, Thank you for your faith in Jesus and your support. Sometimes love speaks louder than words!    I have been giving away my CDs free as part of my ministry. I can only afford to mail a few CDs each month because I am attending college on grants and scholarships...(I'm another struggling musician!). My music is not typical church praise. Although I have written Christian music ranging from: rock n' roll, country, jazz, traditional praise, and blues, Some of my music has an edge (YES! and too many guitar solos--CHRISTIAN GUITAR UNIVERSE). I would be happy to mail you a free CD...Please don't request a CD if you don't enjoy the examples heard on my home page.
