-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arkansas State at Virginia Tech (16), (16), Sunday 2:30 PM ET Final Score: 63-7 Harmon: Virginia Tech, 52-6 15.8 points CFN: Virginia Tech, 48-6 14.2 points Joe: Virginia Tech, 35-6 9 points Vick's little brother, Vick will shit all over the other team. And he won't even play! That's how good I think he is gonna be. The mere presence makes the opposition shit and then quit. I hope they put him in for a couple plays so I can see him. You guys know he's Aaron Brooks' cousin? I saw it on Sportcenter last year. Yeah, he was being interviewed and....Oh yeah. Uh. Tech was good last year. They're ranked high this year. Good enough for me. G: Virginia Tech, 48-13 12.8 points This game won't be as close as the score shows......actually the score doesn't show that, but trust me. 10 of those 13 points will come in the final 10 minutes of the game against the young'n's. This will be a good scrimmage for VT. Kevin Jones will run this defense to death and Grant Noel will work the secondary like a pop warner team. Bryan Randall and Grant will be the only people playing. awaited Marcus Vick will most likely be redshirted unless grand and bryan shit all over the place! Phil: Virginia Tech, 63-0 17.2 points Every opening week needs a massacre. Possibly the worst team in Division 1-A football, going up against the Big East power...Marcus Vick might get some PT in this one, and that'd be the only reason to watch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regular Picks:
Colorado State (43), (42) at Virginia (U), (55), Thursday 7:30 PM ET Final Score: Colorado State, 35-29 Harmon: Virginia 24-22 :::: 10.8 points CFN: Virginia 23-20 :::: 10.2 points Joe: Colorado State, 21-17 :::: 16.8 points Did that look like a wussy generic score to you? Well it was. Yikes. This is a really tough pick for me, but I gotta take the ACC here. Rep-ruh-sent!! Anyway, I don't think Virginia is all too good, but I think Colorado State is pretty not good, even more-so. No wait. Switch it. No. OK, I did. Colorado State isn't too good, but I think Virginia is pretty not good, even more-so. Virginia could barely handle a reeling Penn State at the end of last year. Relevance: I don't know. that was the best thing I could find to make this pick. G: Virginia 35-17 :::: 6.6 points This game is going to be great. Just cuz it's the ACC opener. It will lose it's shine after about the first..mm...kickoff. Too bad the Cav's aren't playing someone with a chance of beating them. Still, I will be rootin for for the ACC to win just to boost the diff. of sched. Lez see what Cecil Sapp is up to, can Cecil's production can outdo the production of Matt Schaub, Billy McMullen and Michael McGrew. Cecil Sapp also has to get past Angelo Crowell and top recruit Ahmad Brooks. Hope they decide to redshirt his ass! Phil: Colorado State 30-20 :::: 17.4 points Out of all the first week contests, this game is the toughest to crack. Colorado State QB "Ed" Bradlee Van Pelt (that's for all you "60 Minutes" fans) should be tested by a Virginia secondary which looks pretty tough. However, Virginia's offense has WR Billy McMullen, and, well...that's it. Despite the Rams playing many miles from home so early in the season, I think their offense has improved enough to overcome the Cavaliers, who are still at least a year away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fresno State (U), (39) at Wisconsin (25), (23), Friday 8:00 PM ET Final Score: Wisconsin, 23-21 Harmon: Fresno State 28-26 12.8 points CFN: Wisconsin 34-24 16.2 points Joe: Wisconsin 28-14 16.2 points I think Wisconsin is a little bit under-rated. They have that RB who was a freshman last year. I can't imagine being a high school senior, shitting on people, getting to college as a freshman, and shitting on people again I don't know. This may be blasphemy, but I think he's better than Bruce Perry. A lot better. Someone finally gets a chance in Fresno State to shine at QB...and doesn't. Oh well, not a bad showing against a pretty good team. G: Wisconsin 42-13 10.8 points Nobody in the Big Ten can stop Anthony Davis let alone anyone in the WAC. Good luck stopping Davis dawg!!!. If you do, I give you a good amount of money, cuz I'd lose a good amount as well ;) If I weren't under those damn ACC rules, I'd bet money on this one... Phil: Wisconsin, 38-13 12.4 points No David Carr means no chance for the Bulldogs. Expect Wisconsin's Heisman hopeful, RB Anthony Davis, to run wild behind an experienced offensive line. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico at N.C. State (27), (25), Saturday 4:30 PM ET Final Score: N.C. State, 34-14 Harmon: N.C. State, 20-10 15.2 points CFN: N.C. State 38-17 19 points Joe: N.C State 34-14 20 POINTS!!! The Rebecca Lobos seemed to have picked a schedule that suited them last year, but were half a step behind in a lot of the games. I look for that to continue. Phillip Rivers is one of those guys who will torch a non-excellent secondary. I think this becomes the year that he starts to frustrate even the best of the defensive backs. Too bad they don't play Oklahoma this year. Not that they'd win or anything, but I think they'd surprise people. Texas Tech might be a good matchup in a few weeks. G: N.C. State 28-24 14.8 points NC State's defense will struggle trying to contain Casey Kelly and Dwight Counter, but luckily Terrence Holt will pick off a couple deep passes and Philip Rivers will turn them into easy touchdown bombs of his own. NC State will need this win because they will get very little wins once interleague play begins. They will need to win all of their non conference games and they will of course. Phil: N.C. State, 49-14 14 points "Take me to the Rivers...ooh, that Philip Rivers..." The first of many bad musical references to NC State's big gun, QB Philip Rivers. He could throw for 400 yards this day.
