| Baby Got Back Sir-Mix-A-Lot "So your girlfriend rolls a Honda Playin workout tapes by Fonda But Fonda ain't got a motor in the back of her Honda My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns hun" The only reason you don't like it is because you've heard it so many times. This may be the most played rap song of all time. Seriously. Everyone and their mom thinks they're cool when singing this song. This is another quote-heavy song. Lot's of great stuff in here. Clever song. It's taken a huge hit in peoples' opinions because of how often it's played, but you can't discredit how great it was in its time. Forgot About Dre Dr. Dre f. Eminem "I told em all All them little gangstas Who you think helped mold 'em all? Now you wanna run around and talk about guns Like I ain't got none What you think I sold 'em all?" Eminem wins some kind of award for cramming most syllables into a short chorus on this one. Dr. Dre is talking about how he's pissed that he's not gettin the love. Then Eminem comes in and starts talking about one time when he strangled a guy and another time when he burned down a house with Dre. The Dre keeps talking about being pissed that he's not getting love. I don't know what Eminem's verse is doing in here, but it's genius because it sounds good and at this point in time, Eminem was third in world popularity, right behind God and Justin Timberlake. Good song. I have the feeling we'll be seeing a bit more of Eminem before we're through. I just realized that ironically, I didn't really talk about Dre when talking about this song. If you don't know what irony I'm talking about, maybe it's better that way. Jump Around House of Pain "Words to your moms, I came to drop bombs, I've got more rhymes than the bible's got psalms." This quote barely bet out "Muggs lets the funk flow, Someone's talkin' junk, yo, I'll bust him in the eye, and then I'll take the punk's ho". I had to make sure I included one of "these songs" on the list. I don't like "Insane in the Membrane" that much, and I never got into Kris Kross. House of Pain, I feel, came out with the best one. Big Poppa Notorious B.I.G. "So we can steam on the way to the telly go fill my belly A t-bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch's grape" I picked this quote because I think it's funny. It seems so out of place to me, but I guess food is never out of place for him. Later, they decide to just go back to his crib and have sex in a jacuzzi while watching a movie and smoking up. I think this is Stefan's favorite hip hop song. If not, I know it's up there. This has a good sexin' beat. I'll close with that. Days of Our Livez Bone Thugs-N-Harmony "Cause everbody wanna try to bring out tha devil in me But tha evils ain't betta than me, weed keeps me at ease" This song has a great intro. It's like 2 minutes long, and they manage to say "Bone" probably more thatn 50 times! If that's not great, I don't know what is! OK, I just tried to count. I think it's 70 times! If there's anything that Bone really consistently does in every song, it's giving a shoutout to the good herb. They never miss giving credit to weed. I wish they'd pass that every now and then, but they don't. Here's a challenge for you guys: find me two Bone songs that don't mention it. $.25 to the first person to do it. Why only a quarter? Only a quarter so no one will actually take this challenge and prove me wrong. Good song though. Soothing. Old ladies : Nature Songs and Whale Music :: Joe : Bone songs. I Ain't Mad at Cha 2-Pac " seems I lost my little homie he's a changed man Hit the pen and now no sinnin is the game plan When I talk about money all you see is the struggle When I tell you I'm livin large you tell me it's trouble" My first comment: this song has the same piano background as a Blackstreet song that came out at like the same time. It might have been called "Crazy", but I don't care enough to find out. This song is neat. It really makes rap seem less distant to me. Not that I relate to it, but it's actually saying something. You need the whole first verse as a quote to do this song justice. I like the whole song, except that he apparently kills his friend in the end. Oh 2-Pac.....such a bastard sometimes. You didn't have to kill him. Maybe he just wanted a good dramatic finish. Good enough for #31 on this list. Page 4 |
