| JOE'S FAVORITE 50 RAP SONGS |
| 24 Hours to Live Ma$e f. The Lox, Black Rob, Puff Daddy, DMX "Twenty four left until my death So I'm gon' waste alot of lives, but I'll cherish every breath I know exactly where I'm goin', but I'mma send you there first And with the shit that I'll be doin', I'mma send you there worse" OK, I lied. Ma$e is in this one. I promise you no more though. The quote above was the first I ever heard from DMX. I went into a DMX phase after this song. I couldn't not put this on the list, but I couldn't not put it at the bottom either. Here's a rare song from Bad Boys that's actually about something. It's kind of a neat idea, but I bet it's already been done before. Oh well. Break Ya Neck Busta Rhymes "We be always blowin the spot, again and again, And make a nigga really wanna STOP... [pause]" This one is here to appease my simple mind. Much like I enjoy the dunk in basketball, I enjoy the quick talking in rap. It's also good for a party. I can't help but stop moving, no matter what I'm doing when he says "STOP" (including driving). Qudanny hates this song, but I hate Qudanny, so if for no other reason, this song is here for you Qudanny. Woo Hah!! Got You all in Check Busta Rhymes :When I step up in the place ay yo I step correct Woo-Hah got you all in check I got that head nod shit make you break your neck Woo-Hah I got you all in check" I never got into this song enough, but it's still good. There's definitely not much out like it. It has the kind of beat that will get stuck in your head for three decades if you're not careful. I guess this is where I first heard Busta Rhymes. I really like his sound, but he's not gonna be on this list too much more, I don't imagine. I bet if I had listened to more songs and delayed this list yet another month, Busta would have been on it more. Sorry Busta. Maybe next time. If I Could Teach the World Bone Thugs-N-Harmony "If I could teach the world to be a thug like me Everybody thuggin in heaven eternally" This song is kind of nonsensical. If everyone was a thug, we'd all be in heaven thuggin'? I don't get it. It is Bone though, and it has a neat sound. This one could be the songiest of the Bone songs. I really really liked this song before I knew the words, but now that I know the words, it's taken a hit. I can't leave it off the list though, if only because of how high it was at one point. Eternal Bone Thugs-N-Harmony "Four crazy niggas wid nuthin' to looooose." Firstly, I'd like to put a disclaimer here that I promise this list won't be half Bone. Secondly, I'd like to just say how hard it is to find quotes in a Bone song. It doesn't sound right out of context, and usually isn't too insightful anyway. This song is relatively new to my collection. It has a good musical background that you wouldn't hear from anyone else. If there's one thing Bone is great for, it's musical backgrounds. And holding on to their souls. Good song, better than the last one. In my favorite 10 Bone songs for sure. Fight for Your Right Beastie Boys "You wake up late for school man you don't wanna go You ask you mom, 'Please?' but she still says, 'No!'" Unlike the previous songs, where I had trouble finding any good quotes, this song gave me trouble choosing between the good ones. I don't like the Beastie Boys much. I don't think anyone will ever get tired of hearing me say that. I don't like the Beastie Boys. I don't like the Beastie Boys. I don't like the Beastie Boys. Did I trick you into highlighting this? Anyway, This song deserves a spot on my list, and it got it, above 2 Bone songs, no less. Enojy it while it lasts. Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang Dr. Dre f. Snoop Doggy Dogg "Gimme the microphone first, so I can bust like a bubble Compton and Long Beach together, now you know you in trouble" Arguably the best song on arguably the most important rap C.D. ever made (hey! I said arguably. hateful bastards). The Chronic brought in a new era of rap. Good new beats, freer form. Take Dr. Dre out of this world and it changes the face of music more than if you had done it with anyone but a handful of people. He never had the great hits in my mind, but he set down the format and got some guys who could do it for him. According to him in that song "Say what you say", he has 'over 80 million records sold'. I don't know exactly what that means. Did he produce records that together sold 80 million? Probably. I don't care enough to look it up though. Dre, you da man. Page 2 |
