| Home | The Librarian The Librarian of the Unseen University is known throughout the city, not for his devotion to duty, which is truly great, but because he is a 300lb orang-utang. A magical explosion in the library changed his shape many years ago. He is quite happy; all of his human philosophical problems have been resolved. He doesn't look back, or to that matter down. Most of the time he can be seen swinging quite happy from the selves, caring for the hazardous books of the Unseen University. He enjoys bannans. His bones crave for the heat of the rainforest, but he is a librarian in his heart and even in the coldest of winters refuses to light a fire in the library. He makes himself a nest instead out of whatever is lying around. Although the Librarian was a grown man when he was changed into the creature he is today, he still believes in the Hogfather. Every Hogwatch he hangs up one of the Bursar's socks. He asks for simple library equipment, reference cards, stamps and such like. This is because of the mis-management of the Archchancellor. Even the most senior wizards much show that there pencils are worn to the stub before they can have a new one. The Librarian also likes to do his bit for the community. In Guards! Guards! he is made a member. However, he always puts the library first. This is due to the nature of L-space. All books are connected. Only the chosen few (with him included) know the secrets. In The Last Continent he became ill with a mystery disease. It was neccessary for the senior faculty to fetch Rincewind from the lost continent of XXX. The Librarian was losing control his body shape. Depending on his location, he would change into an object or a creature. For instance, when he was near the library he took the shape of The Story of Oook. |
