NATIONAL PROJECT 2006 - 2007

When you hear about people who are starving and undernourished, poorly clothed, living without much shelter, walking with bloodied feet and weathered faces, you may think of the conditions in broken countries and suppose that that sort of thing is not well known to the US. But these poverty stricken men and women who scrounge for whatever they can get, hoping to live just long enough to experience happiness again, are our forefathers.

Thousands of men and women, like those described, could be found in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania around 1778. Many died of sickness and disease, but those who lived, lived to tell a story. The time spent at Valley Forge filled the survivors with an immense spirit which lead them in Pursuing American Victory.

This year, the National Society will contribute funds towards the restoration of the Spring House at Washington’s Headquarters in Valley Forge National Historical Park located in Pennsylvania. There are four main tasks: to re-roof the structure, install proper ventilation to help take care of water damage and solve problems concerning it, repairing the bedding and pointing mortar, and any other conditions that may appear.

This project has many points of significance to the society including meeting the second objective of the N.S.C.A.R. which is, “ to preserve and restore places of historical importance associated with men and women who forwarded American Independence.” Join N.S.C.A.R. in Pursuing American Victory!
