Dad had purchased this car in 1977 from a good friend of his that he had known for a number of years. This friends mother had purchased the car new and had kept it well maintained until she could no longer drive. She was usually the only occupant of the car so all of the upholstery was in excellent condition with little wear or broken stitching. The seats were a nylon blend material rather than the typical vinyl that you find in most Thunderbirds of this era. This car was taken out very little in the winters, but even then there were small amounts of rust appearing in the lower quarter panels. Dad decided to restore the car right so he had new quarter panels installed on both sides of the car.
This Thunderbird has undergone a complete restoration. The front fenders were removed along with the engine which allowed for a complete detailing of the engine compartment. The engine was rebuilt, new gas tank and brake system, rebuilt transmission, carpet, and trunk mat. |
