The Cereal Bowl
There's the trussrod I tried to set
myself on fire for (see page 3, near the bottom). That's a hunk of 1/2 x 1/8" steel bent over at
the ends and a 3/16" threaded rod. One end (at the top of the photo) has a nut
and a bunch of epoxy to make (I hope) a fixed end and a brass nut threaded on
the other end for adjusting. This trussrod sits loose in a complicated rout in
the neck right under the fretboard with the flat steel bar upward. I found this
design somewhere on the web. It was from a guy named Dave Pushic, so if you
google that name (not so common, eh?) you oughta be able to come up with a
better description. I hope it works. My early education in engineering, which
was facilitated by the mobile hanging above the crib and was not continued, says
this looks like a tool not for straightening the neck but for pushing the
fretboard off. We'll see.
Below is a
pvc thing that is used to cap off unused sewer pipes, I think. I took it home
from Jimmy Johnson's sponsor (I like Tony Stewart okay, but there's usually nobody in
his sponsor's store to say where something is, and the checkout lines are
too long), sawed it in half, cut down the halves, and epoxied them to the cake
pan to make sound scoops.
Here's a picture of the bottom of the pan with the bowl bits attached. I'll resist painting a teddy bear face on it. I've sprayed it with auto primer and clear lacquer.
